"Sasha! I haven't seen you in forever!" Coco bellowed, just as I walked into the tropical manor we were set to stay in for the next few days. "You look so pretty."
"Aw, thanks! So do you. How was your trip back home to Florida with your man?" I emphasized, setting my luggage down and finding a seat at a woven island chair in the grand kitchen.
Sean and Isabella, whose wedding ceremony was in less than a month, had organized a weekend excursion to the Bahamas to celebrate their bachelor and bachelorette parties. The hosts themselves planned to stay with their families in a neighboring villa, while Coco, Ahmad, Kendall, myself, and a few of their friends would reside in our current vacation manor.
From what I had incurred thus far, there would be about fifteen of us staying in the house altogether. Being so, I wasn't too overwhelmed by the sheer number of strangers I'd have to share a space with for the next couple of nights. Rather, the villa seemed quite large enough to accessibly accommodate each person into separate wings of the house, if it came to it.
Also, from what I'd read on the trip's itinerary, Isabella had compiled a rather generous list of activities for the group to partake in during our stay. Considering how busy the schedule was, I doubt we'd even be inside the house much, anyways.
Due to how stressful work had been lately, I'd joined the trip a little later than expected. As a result, most of the houseguests had already been well-situated long before I arrived. Fortunately for me, the palatal accommodations provided by Kendall's private plane arrangements made my travels to the island quite peaceful.
Truth be told, I had actually enjoyed traveling alone. It was a much more convenient experience and afforded me additional flexibility and relaxation time to escape the unraveling chaos bound to ensue at Milton Co.
All week, Frank had been on edge about his evolving theory that there was an ongoing ploy to overtake Milton Co. and that it was an inside job. Unfortunately, whether I liked it or not, his constant state of hysteria had begun to rub off on me. So much so, that I was now eyeing every last one of my coworkers and staff members with an unwarranted level of cynicism.
In my honest opinion, I was growing restless over fighting for a company no one seemed to want. In fact, I had already begun the process of mentally preparing myself for it to be sold. If my uncle truly wanted the weight of the business off his shoulders, then good riddance. Though I could admit that a small part of me couldn't quite dispel the superlative fact that Kendall was responsible for my family's business being taken over.
At first, I had been admittedly infuriated by the mere thought of a stranger owning the company. Now, I wondered about my uncle's sanity as a whole and whether Frank's insatiable quest for power was truly in the family's best interest. With the disingenuous direction things were currently headed, it scared me to witness first-hand how much Frank wouldn't hesitate to take down any- and everything in his way for the sake of power.
To be fair, I also couldn't ignore the fact that Kendall was slowly becoming someone I was beginning to trust. So, maybe the entire process of him buying the company wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Albeit, there were still several important business and personal matters I had yet to fully discuss with him, but was intent on bringing to his attention after this trip.
Besides, I was far more concerned about who'd have enough voting power and board support to appoint the next CEO. Kendall or my Uncle Darrell? From a purely strategic standpoint, I suppose I had the upper hand when it came to Kendall and I could likely attempt to steer him in the direction I was thinking.
Obviously, I was too inexperienced to run the company. But, if I could somehow convince him to consider Frank for the position, then it would be a win-win situation. Though Kendall would own the company, my cousin would be the one running it. With all this in mind, I still couldn't help but wonder whether I was a fool. Shouldn't I be more enraged by Kendall, the man responsible for stealing my family's legacy?
