"Kendall? What are you doing here? I thought you weren't coming..."
Not that I didn't appreciate the sight of him standing in front of me, but I was shocked that he was actually here. Draped from head to toe in his assured resolve, there wasn't an ounce of anxiety pulsating through his surely inhumane veins.
He was wearing a custom suit, paired eloquently with a black casual tee shirt tucked stoutly into fitted dress pants. Instead of his usual button up, he opted for a knitted cardigan, which helped tame his rugged appearance. For the first time since I'd met him, he'd allowed his beard to fully grow out. It was neatly lined across his face, bringing further prominence to the small eye bags resting under his usually flawless skin.
Although he appeared sleep-deprived, his good looks were still bested by none. As I stared at the undeniably handsome man, I couldn't believe that he was all mine. No matter how many times I reminded myself of the reason I was angry with him, the more I took in his arrogant persona laced with the hint of a smirk, I found my poorly-constructed walls inevitably start to collapse.
"As did I. But, I had a few things on my schedule clear up." He replied crisply, his hooded eyes briefly fleeting to Marjorie's presence before returning to me.
Glancing at Marjorie, I could also see her curious gaze defensively analyzing Kendall's imposing frame. She seemed to be mentally drawing her own conclusions about the brazen man, as he walked closer to me and wrapped his arms around my lower back in the most intimate way possible. Her attention locked on where his hand made contact with my body, her once innocently curious stare becoming armored.
Despite my mother being only a few short inches away from us, Kendall looked fixedly at me as if I were the only woman in the vicinity, let alone world. We shared a non-verbal exchange nested in desire and need, as his eyes temporarily flickered to my lips and I eagerly licked them in response. His darkening pupils drifted from their spot on my lips to my dress-clad body, and didn't stop until they landed at the very tips of my toes.
My body resultantly set out on a heated mission to melt wherever his eyes roamed. When his magnetic gaze daringly returned to my face, I was dutifully entranced by the way his ivory orbs peered into mine.
"Hey." I said shyly, stepping forward so that I could be drawn even closer to his cherry scented touch.
Immediately picking up on the intention behind my increased proximity, Kendall willfully closed the distance between us. His arms lurched forward and pulled me fully into his firmness. I inhaled his cherry and pine aroma, relishing in how good he always seemed to smell.
"Sasha." He returned, as his hands began to trail dangerously low on my hips. Of the many things I was learning about Kendall, I was only now fully coming to terms with how sexual he tended to be.
"Kendall." I mocked, when he took the opportunity to press me further into his chest. I inhaled a large breath, prompting him to emit a deep hum when my arms encircled around his shoulders. Like the final two pieces of a puzzle, we had come together and completed each other.
"Who's this?" Marjorie's melancholy voice exhibited the same effect as an ice cold glass of water, sweeping away the temporary solace provided by Kendall and I's brief interaction. If I had mistakenly forgotten before, I was now fully reminded that we were indeed still in the company of my mother.
"Marjorie, this is Kendall Fine. Kendall, this is Marjorie. She's my um, well, she's my mother." I hesitantly introduced, while simultaneously attempting to insert some distance between Kendall and I. However, he refused to let that happen. Instead, his hand protectively tightened around my waist.
