'Sir. Did your parents not teach you not to scare people in the dark? At night, outside.' He laughs quietly and apoligizes. 'Sorry Ms Park. I was just wondering how you are doing? You skipped school today.' He explained.
She looked back at the door. 'I'm fine.' Just when she wanted to turn the handle he spoke again. 'Wanna watch a movie?' She laughed, thinking he was joking. But he stood there. Dead serious, waiting for her to walk up to him and enter his house.
'Me? Really?' She asked walking away from her home. 'Yeah. I thought you might want to, just to get out of there for a while.' He saw her face light up a little. She didn't even hessitated and rushed over to his house.
Once she stood in front of him she doubted if it was a smart move.
'Nolan.. don't you think it's weird for me to be here? I'm your student.' she said awkwardly standing in the doorway.
'So what? I like you.' He didn't think about the way it came out of his mouth.
'You. You like me?' She asked being confused again. 'Yes, as in you. You as a person. I like your personality and your smart. You are a challenge to teach but I see potential.' he rubs his neck out of emberrassment and his ears turn a light shade of red.
Hyejin giggles and follows him inside the house.
'Don't act all shaken up sir, we did kiss. And-' He interupted her not letting her finish the sentence. 'Please come in and take a seat.' She closed the door behind her and took her shoes of. He took her jacket and hung it up.
His house was the same as his office. Oddly neat and perfectly designed. She took a seat on the couch in the living room. 'Wow, so bouncy and soft.' He walked to the kitchen. That's when she smelled an amazing scent.
'Would you like some food? I prepaired dinner pretty late today.' He said while grabbing two bowls and glasses. 'Absolutely. It smells great!' She stood up and took a seat at the dinner table. It was a small table compared to the one at her house. He put the pan on the table and also sat down.
He started scooping some soup in a bowl, placed it next to a bowl with rice and some fried chicken.
'Where did you learn how to cook?' She asked him while looking over at every dish. 'My mother taught me. She was a great cook.' She locked eyes with him and grabbed a spoon.
'I'm sorry, I didn't know she passed.' The tone in her voice switched. He smilled, confusing her again. Who would smile while talking about dead people.
'It's not like that. Sorry for confusing you. You see my mother has rheumatism. She can't cook anymore, it has gotten worse in her hands.' He explained taking a sip off the soup. 'Oh, is she doing okay though?'
He nodded. 'Yes. She is doing great. My dad cooks for her now. She still does the things that you don't particularly need your hands for.' He was talking differently to her now. He seemed to be more comfortable to show emotion instead of being strict 24/7.
They had a great conversation over dinner and cleaned up together.
After cleaning up they sat down on the couch and watched a movie together. 'Tell me when you want to go to bed sir, I'll leave.' She said burrying herself under a blanket. 'Please call me Flynn.' He said while fluffing up the pillows behind her so she can sit more comfortable.
'Flynn.' She said getting a weird feeling from saying his name for the first time. 'F-L-Y-N-N.' he spelled, making her laugh. 'Noted.' She let herself sit back falling in the soft and cosy pillow. The couch was super comfortable, even better than her own bed.
'Alright, this was the second movie. Got anything else?' Flynn asked her with a sleepy voice. He turned his head to the right only to see Hyejin with her eyes closed. He chuckled and turned off the television. The house was pitch dark.
