Chapter 9

The next morning Hyejin wakes up way too late. She trips when she rushes out her bed and calls out for her brother. No answer. While brushing her teeth she checks his room, he's not in there either. Why didn't he wake me up?! She put on a shirt, jeans and combed her hair. While trying to gather her stuff. She got a phone call. 

'Yes?' She said. 'Where the fuck are you? We are going to be late if we wait any longer.' Miles said while Elijah and Colby were making noises on the background. 'I overslept! My brother didn't wake me up.' She rushed down the stairs to search for her keys. 

'I told you to use multiple alarms.' He said. 'I will! I'm on my way now, go to class without me.' She hung up the phone.

She rushes to the classroom. When she arrived she forgets to knock and opens the door. 'I'm sorry that I'm late sir, I overslept.' Some students start laughing, she stands back up straight and fixes her hair and shirt. 

'Take a seat. I'll condone it this time.' She rushes to her seat forgetting to close the door behind her. Once she's seated Nolan let's out a deep breath and closes the door after her. 'Don't forget the door next time.' He commands her while glaring at the laughing students.

Hyejin ignored him and quickly unpacked her bag. 'Girl. What happend?' Elijah asks concerned while he pulls her shirt higher up. 'I couldn't find my keys and overslept. The other way around.' She trips over her words while taking her books out of her bag. 

'And I forgot my notes.' They both flinch when they hear a loud thud coming from the front of the class. 'Hyejin! I asked you a question.' Nolan shouted. 

'Holy shit.' Miles whispered to them. 'Someone woke up with an attitude.'

'Sorry sir. I was distracted. Could you repeat the question?' She says while Elijah whispered to her. 'stand up'. Nolan Sighed. 'I was talking about the homework, question 38. What's the answer?' his voice was heavy and his eyes sharp, like lasers came out of them. 

'I'm sorry sir. I forgot my notebook at home.' The front row of barbie dolls started laughing. 'Quiet!' he shouted making everyone in the room tense up. 'Hyejin. I'm disappointed in you.' She lowered her head. 'I understand, I apoligize.'

'Get out.' he said. Glancing at her and throwing his marker on his desk. 'What?' Elijah starts packing her bag trying to get her out of the room as soon as possible before the situation escelates. 

'Leave the classroom.' He says again. Raising his voice this time. 'You are wasting everyones time by staying here.' He looked around the class. 'But sir.. if you could only hand me a piece of paper and a pen I could just stay and take notes! Please, this is not necessary.' She pleads. 

Miles backs her up. 'Sir. You helped her finish the work. Why not give her a chance?' Nolan walks to them and continues. 'You come in late, disturb my lesson, you do not pay attention and now you forgot your homework! Get out.' 

He stops in front of her. Everyone in the classroom is watching it happen. Ms A+ is getting in big trouble in her second week. 'Sir. Please give her one last chance.' Elijah joins in.

'Out. Now.' He repeats. Just when Colby wants too back her up too Nolan stops him. 'If the rest of you want to join her, tell me to give her a chance one last time.' She closed her back and passes him, mumbling things under her breath while walking away. 

'Hyejin.' She stops walking near the door. 'Wait outside the classroom.' He says and she walks out. After a couple of minutes he comes to her. 

'What?' She asks arrogantly. 'Watch your tone.' He said closing the door behind him. 'What happened? Why are you late and messing around?' He asks her seriously but concerned. 'I just overslept and couldn't find my keys. That's all.' She looked at the ground.
