Chapter 16

Lights burned through her eyes. When she wanted to sit up she felt a wave of sickness coming over her. Without thinking about grabing anything near her she threw up. Not on the bed, someone held a small hospital bucket in front of her. It was hard to see, but the familiar face didn't need it. She knew, it was him. Nolan.

Hyejin sat back again while a tissue was held in front of her mouth. 'What happened' She asks while closing her eyes and cleaning her mouth with the handed tissue. 'You don't remember?' He askes her. 'Vaguely.. I'm not sure.' 

She raises her arm to rub in her eye and feels a sharp pain shooting through it. 'I don't recommend moving your arms that much just yet.' he says and softly holds her arm to lay it back down on the bed while his other hand moves up to her eye, he brushed a fallen lash off her face and traces her face down to her chin before moving away.

'You had an emergency opperation. You've been asleep for 2 days.' He says holding her hand. 'Emergency opperation? What for?' She askes while blinking intensively. 'Well..' she heard someone else say. 

'After the test I did I did some digging. Anxiety attacks, nosebleeds, increasing of blood pressure. It led me to a few things. One of which I was afraid of for you to have it.' He explained. She knew who it was, Alexander. 'Which is?' She asked him moving her head to the side, getting a clearer sight. 'Cancer.' He said quickly. 'But you don't have it.' He added, giving her a small smile. 

'So you opperated for no reason?' she asked with a very confused face. 'No. You had a heart failure.' Alexander said looking down to her hand. 'What?! How?' She asked him wanting to sit up quickly but he stopped her. 'Well heart conditions like congestive heart failure can also cause nosebleeds, as can hypertensive crisis — a sudden, rapid increase in blood pressure that may be accompanied by a severe headache, shortness of breat-' He started explaing, living in his own doctor world. 

'In english please.' She said cutting him off. 'Well looking back at what you told me, because of the big amount of stress, mental health disorders, underweight, panic attacks, high blood pressure. It all comes down to your heart. Which just collapsed.

'Shouldn't it have felt like a heart attack then?' She asked him. 'Well.. Because the large amount of blood you kind of.. drowned in your blood to say the least. Your body started turning itself off, like your ability to walk, see or even hear. When you where in the ambulance there was blood coming out of your ears which is exactly when I knew what was wrong.' He explained. 

She could feel Nolan letting go off her hand and turning to the nightstand. There was a bucket of water on there with a towel. He grabed the towel and turned back. going over her face slowly. 

'Thank you.' She said to Nolan finally being able to see fully. Her eyes had adjusted to the light and there he was. His black messy hair, tired light grey eyes and beautiful smile. 'It's nothing really.' He said brushing it off. 'No really, she moved her arm up bending it, not caring about the pain. Placing her hand on his.  Alexander quietly left the room giving them time alone.

He stopped moving and looked at her. Her mind travelled back to when they met. The first time they locked eyes, the time she remembers clearly. The classroom with loud students, first day after break. Them slowly getting to know each other. When they started sneaking around, looking at each other as they passed on the hallways, making eye contact in class when no one was watching. Her lying to her friends for love sake. 

Coming back to the present Hyejin and Nolan were still making eye contact. But different, closer and closer. Closer. She turned her head sideways, he did the same just the other way. Forgetting everything, not even thinking twice. Their lips where so close, when they just touched. For just a second. He pulled back as fast as a train. Just then, the door swang open. Hyejin understood and laughed it off, just a little bit embarrassed. 'Hyejin!!' Miles ran inside, being followed by Colby and her brother. 'Hey guys.' A big smile grew on her face.
