-"Are you ready bambina?" Carina asked from the living room.

-"Yes, just two minutes" replied the blonde from their bedroom.

Maya had arrived at the end of the two minutes as planned and the Italian had turned around.

-"I must have been a really good person in another life to be lucky enough to wake up next to you every day. You're a vision in yourself, Maya Bishop."

The blonde wore a long, dark green dress, while Carina wore a black suit and white shirt. Her pants were ankle-length, with black and white patent shoes.

- "because you think you're the luckiest of us all?" Maya asked, turning her head to point to their apartment.

-"It's all worthless without you by my side to live it. You're my greatest asset."

-"and the most secret..."

-"bambina, we've already talked about this. You're the one who decided to keep our relationship a secret because you don't want to be exposed."

- "I know, I'm sorry, I'm sorry... The thing is, sometimes when I read «her best friend» in celebrity magazines, it drives me crazy. It makes me want to scream."

- "well... you are."

-"yes, and I've also been your partner for almost fifteen years".

- "and I thank God every day..." Carina replied, coming to embrace her waist.

"You're sublime bambina" she had come to kiss her neck. "Ti amo..."

- "per sempre"

- "per sempre"

They'd ended up going to the charity gala to which Carina had been invited.

The Italian was founder and CEO of the largest company in the western United States. She was the kind of person you had to have at your parties, the kind of person it was good to know.

She had made her fortune with the idea of creating an implant that worked with an app for painful menstruation, where the implant would send a shock to a precise spot on the body, causing a dose of oxytocin to be released. This application was then developed for endometriosis sufferers and for childbirth.

She had come up with the whole idea from A to Z, had done the research during her medical studies and had initially only needed a developer to create the application and an engineer to create the implant, the idea for which had come to her thanks to the painful periods of her own partner.

She had made a fortune at the age of twenty-two with this idea and had been running her own pharmaceutical technology and development company ever since.
She sometimes went to her company's laboratory to relax, but now she mostly worked in her office. She had gone from future doctor to scientist to businesswoman.

Her company had gone public when she was twenty-five, and for the last four years she had been not only a local star in Seattle, but also a celebrity the world over, in the same way as Steve Jobs was in his field, Jeff Bezos in his, and Mark Zuckerberg in the world of social networking.

They, her and Maya had met at the age of eleven when they started secondary school, and had become instant friends. They became more than that a few years later.

They had arrived at their party, as usual, in a magnificent white limousine.
Carina didn't like to show off like this, but she knew it was part of the game.
If she had her way, she'd drive her Porsche everywhere. Especially as she loved driving Maya.

She always had the impression that the blonde was hers and hers alone, and she loved this «dominant» side she had over the American. As if she always had to protect her.
She'd always taken this protective role to heart, ever since she'd seen how the blonde was treated by her father.
