Chapter 23

Izabella's POV
I walked out of the bathroom and saw Kai and Bonnie. Kai threw her against the wall. I hide around the corner. Damon walked in and rushed to Bonnie's side.
"How dumb are you?" Kai asked Damon
"I deliver you a dying Bonnie Bennet on a silver platter and whoosh, right over your head."
"Damon." Bonnie struggled to say
"Translate, she's about to croak." Kai stood up.
"Of course you don't have to help her. You could just walk away. She dies of collapsed lung. No blood on your hands, and you and Elena get to live the life you've always dreamed of." He said. Damon just stared down at Bonnie as she struggled to breathe.
"Either way, you have to act quick." Kai said
"I'm so sorry, Bonnie." Damon whispered and placed a kiss on her forehead. Damon walked out.
"That's it? He just left you? The whole point was that this would torture him for a while. I mean, you would at least think he would flip a coin." Kai chuckled

I saw Damon sneaking up behind Kai. He was going to kill him.
"No!" I shouted, sending Damon across the room. I snapped both their necks and hurried to Bonnie. I quickly gave her some of my blood. She held on my wrist tightly, and I smiled.
"You okay?" I asked dher
"Now I am." She smiled weakly
"Listen, Damon wasn't going to leave you.
I just couldn't let him kill Kai." I explained
"I understand. He is our responsibility, Iz. The second he does something wrong, I won't hesitate to kill him." She sat up, and I nodded
She walked out, and I got Kai. I picked him up and dragged him to my car.

Kai slowly woke up, and I sat up. He looked down at his chains.
"Izzy, what is it?" Kai asked
"Now look who is in a cellar." I chuckled to myself
"I ask the questions." I said to him
"Now tell me who turned you."
"Your lovely mother gave me some of her blood. I saved her family." He grinned, and I scoffed
"Now tell me what happened to my sister." He told me
"I saved her. I gave Alaric a vial of my blood. He had it in his pocket, and while you were distracted, I got them out." I explained him
"Why would you do that?" He questioned
"Because you had no logical reason to kill her." I answered truly
"Technically, I wasn't trying to kill her. I tried to kill the babies in her womb." He explained
"Kai, it was one baby." I sighed
"Whoops." He said sarcasticly

I started to yelled at him and lectured him.
"Wait." He said and put a finger over his mouth.
"Be quite for a second."
"Excuse me?" I yelled at him. He looked at me for a few seconds, then made a disgusted look.
"Izabella, why the hell do I hear heartbeats coming from your body?" He asked me. My heart dropped. I forgot he can hear the babies heartbeats.
"Um, I-I...One is mine obviously, a-and the other two...are your children...twins." I explained, scared for his reaction.

"Impossible. They aren'tmine." He scoffed
"Well, they are." I said. He stayed quiet. I decided to leave the basement to give him some space.

I went to the living room to see Damon and Stefan. When Damon saw me, he threw his glass at me, but it was uigh enough to miss me. Then Stefan pinned him against the wall.
"What is wrong with you?" Stefan asked him angrily
"I had him. I was ready to kill him, but she stopped him. She saved him. It's his fault Elena is stuck in that coma." He explained to Stefan
"What?" I asked
"Yeah, your siphoner boyfriend linked Elena to Bonnie. Now, as long as Bonnie is alive, Elena is going to be in a coma." Damon answered. Stefan let go of him, and Damon sat on the sofa
"He isn't my boyfriend, and I didn't know that." I said quietly
"Today was really stressful. Let's just all go to sleep." Stefan said to both of us
"I'm not going to sleep until that weasel is dead." Damon said angrily
"Look, Damon. I'll get him to undo the spell. Okay?" I said, trying to be positive
"Stop protecting him, Izabella!" Damon shouted
"You stop being selfish!" I shouted back
"How am I selfish?"
"Elena, this, Elena, that. The world doesn't revolve around Elena. Did you even know if Jo is alive because of me? If they are safe?" I said, and he looked down at the ground
"Exactly. Did you know that Kia knows about the babies, and I'm trying to keep me and them alive?" I said, trying hard not to cry.
"I'm going to bed." He said and walked away
"It's going to be okay." Stefan said and pulled me in a hug.
"Thank you."
