For all those who were left with questions after reading the chapter Italy baby, here is part two.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since you left Charles alone in Italy he has been living by your message, live a little. He became a bit stubborn, but for his own good. He put up his middle finger a little higher and used his voice a little louder. Charles was used to being a people pleaser, but he was done with that. He stood up against his "friends" and chose for himself. Some will say he changed for the better, others will say he changed for the worse.
Charles didn't know anything about you but your name and age, he had tried to call your number but it was out of service. With a little help from some technical guys, he found your Instagram but it was not public. Charles had sent you a few messages on Instagram but you didn't respond, and neither did you accept his follow request. Even though you never replied he still sends you a message every other day.
Charles got out of the shower and wiped the drops of water from his face. He sighed deeply, the season ended two weeks ago but he didn't know what to do with his free time. He wanted to go on a little vacation but every time he thought about leaving the country he had to think about you and how you left him heartbroken in that little cabin in Italy. So Italy was off the list, maybe a warmer country? Maybe he could join one of his brothers.
He was scrolling through his Instagram notification when he saw that you accepted his following request. Charles almost dropped his phone, what? It had been more than three months since he put in the request and now you accepted his following request? Why? He scrolled through your page and recognized a few pictures, Charles took them of you when you were in Italy last summer.
He scrolled back to the top and saw that you had been traveling a lot. To his surprise, you even visited two Grand Prix. He felt like he was stabbed in the chest by a knife, after your note he thought that you might visit him at a GP but that didn't happen. Now that he saw that you were actually there it hurts even more. A lot of what-if questions wandered through his head, but he had learned that that wouldn't solve his problems.
Most of the pictures you posted didn't have captions but just a few emojis, the pictures with captions were about missing and (not) forgetting someone. Could it be? Was it possible that you missed him too? The captions started with a picture of Italy, before that post you never used captions. Charles noticed that you had posted something new just a few minutes before you accepted his following request. It was a picture of a lake he recognized all too well, it was where you kissed for the first time. The only difference was that it was frozen now and it had snowed.
Come find me, please
The caption said, was this an invitation towards Charles to find you? Charles didn't doubt for a second and grabbed a bag with a few essentials, warm clothes, snacks, a few bottles of water, his passport, and his car keys. If he left now he would be there around the afternoon.
Charles put his stuff in the trunk, sat down behind the wheel, and started the car. He opened Apple Maps and put in the right address, it was just a little more than six hours before he would hopefully see you. Charles sighed deeply and closed his eyes, was this the right thing to do? What if you were not there? Maybe it was just a coincidence that you posted that picture with that caption.
Since you met at a Grand Prix, you must have known that the season was over. Right? "Fuck." He slammed his hands on the steering wheel. "No more thinking, Leclerc. Just go and find her." He whispered to himself. Without hesitating another moment he drove away, looking for the girl who left him without a warning. His friends must think he was crazy, chasing a girl who treated him so poorly. He would have said the same to his friends if someone told him what he was about to do.
