Chapter 18- Training

The one downside to being a professional footballer? Training every single moment you have free. Today is going to be the first training session I'm taking part in, and I'm fucking terrified.

The first match that I'm going to be a part of the squad for is against Man United in the cup. Although Jonas has told me that I won't be starting as it's early days, I may still be subbed on.

Meaning if I don't make my first appearance against Man United, I will against Man City.

Currently, though? Beth is driving the both of us to the training ground.

As we arrive, a certain Vivianne Miedema and Jordan Nobbs appear waiting for the both of us.

"Vivi!" Beth shouts, wrapping her arms around the forward after we get out of the car.

Beth definitely likes Viv.

"Hey Beth," Viv replies, smiling at Beth.

I wrap an arm around Jordan as we walk away from the pair, discussing the fact that it's obvious the two like each other.

"Jordan! Dri!" A strong Irish accent shouts at us both, causing us to turn around.

"Hola, Katie." I say to the defender as she approaches the both of us.

I'm very glad Katie is now my teammate and not an opponent.

"Dri, for training, do you want to partner up if we get to choose our partners?" Katie asks me as she comes and wraps an arm around me as well.

"As long as you don't take out my ankles, then sure, McCabe." I say to her whilst laughing as we make our way to the locker room to drop our bags off.

"What am I? Chopped liver?" Jordan says whilst shaking her head and laughing at the two of us.

"I'm sure Kim, Frida, or Jen will partner up with you." Katie says whilst rolling her eyes at the midfielder as we walk into the locker room laughing.

"Well, that's a trio you wouldn't expect." Caitlin remarks as we walk in, shaking her head.

"Shove it, Foord!" Katie shouts as we walk past her whilst shoving her lightly.

As I look around the locker room, I notice that multiple members of the squad aren't in here currently.

Did Beth really make us that late?

"Stop overthinking, Martinez, we're all early, and Kim and Leah had a meeting this morning with Jonas." Steph Catley says to me, as she obviously sees my eyes frantically shifting around the room.

Her words cause me to exhale a breath I didn't know I was holding.

When Beth and Viv walk in the locker room, they aren't alone, being accompanied by Kim and Leah as well, the four laughing at something.

I'm snapped out of my thoughts by Lotte, Manu, Katie, and Jordan all coming and gathering around me.

"Adriana, how are you?" Lotte says, offering me a hand to pull me up.

"I'm alright, how are you, Lotte?" I ask her as I accept her hand and allow her to pull me up.

"I'm good! How are you feeling about your fir-" She replies before a body comes and shoves its way in between the two of us, startling the defender.

"Leah, grow up. Why don't ya?!" Katie shouts at the blonde who I'm assuming just separated Lotte and I.

"Fuck off McCabe!" She snaps back before walking out of the locker room, shaking her head.

"What's her problem?" Manu asks, looking between Katie and the door in disbelief.

What is her problem?
