Leah's POV:
As Adriana's words sank in, my heart felt like it was caught in a whirlwind of emotions. The relief of knowing she was awake and speaking to me mixed with the weight of her career-ending news. I tried to keep a brave face for her, but inside, my mind raced with questions and concerns.
"Dria, I know it's a lot to take in right now, but just take your time to process everything," I said, trying to offer comfort as I took a seat beside her bed.
Adriana nodded weakly, her eyes filled with tears. "I don't know what to do, Leah. Football is everything to me, and now it's all gone."
I reached out and gently took her hand in mine, offering what little comfort I could. "We'll figure it out together, okay? You're not alone in this."
Adriana gave me a small smile, but it was clear that she was struggling to find hope in the midst of her despair. I knew that I had to do everything in my power to support her, no matter what.
Just then, a nurse entered the room, checking Adriana's vitals and adjusting the IV drip. I watched with a sense of helplessness as Adriana winced in pain, wishing there was more I could do to ease her suffering.
Once the nurse finished her assessment and left the room, Adriana turned to me with a determined look in her eyes. "Leah, I appreciate everything you've done for me, but you don't have to stay. I know you have your own life to get back to."
I shook my head, refusing to leave her side. "Dria, I'm not going anywhere. I'll be here for as long as you need me, whether it's a day, a week, or however long it takes for you to get back on your feet."
Adriana's eyes softened, and she reached out to squeeze my hand. "Thank you, Leah. I don't know what I'd do without you."
I squeezed her hand back, silently promising to be there for her through thick and thin. As we sat together in the quiet hospital room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the invisible string that had tied us together again. No matter what challenges lay ahead, I knew that we would face them together as friends.

As the hours passed, Adriana drifted in and out of sleep, her body still weak from the ordeal she had endured. I sat by her side, watching over her with a mixture of concern and determination. Despite the uncertainty of her future, I was resolved to do whatever it took to help her through this difficult time.
As the evening turned into night, the hospital grew quiet, the only sound of the soft hum of machines and the occasional shuffle of footsteps in the hallway. I leaned back in my chair, exhaustion creeping into my bones, but I refused to leave Adriana's side.
Suddenly, the door to the room creaked open, and I looked up to see Thea and Nicolás standing in the doorway, their faces etched with worry.
"Leah, how is she?" Thea asked, her voice trembling with emotion.
I stood up and walked over to them, wrapping them both in a tight embrace. "She's hanging in there. It's been a rough day, but she's a fighter."
Nicolás buried his face in my shoulder, his tears soaking through my shirt. "I'm scared, Leah. What if she doesn't get better?"
I held him close, trying to offer whatever comfort I could. "We just have to take it one day at a time, Nic. Adriana's strong, and she's surrounded by people who love her. She's going to pull through this, I promise."
Thea wiped away her tears and nodded, her gaze never leaving her sister's sleeping form. "You're right, Leah. We have to stay positive for her."
Together, we stood vigil by Adriana's bedside, our thoughts consumed by prayers for her recovery. As the night stretched on, I felt a sense of camaraderie and solidarity with Thea and Nicolás, knowing that we were all in this together.
Eventually, exhaustion caught up with us, and we settled into makeshift beds around Adriana's room, finding solace in each other's presence. Despite the uncertainty of what the future held, I felt a glimmer of hope stirring inside me, fueled by the unbreakable bond of friendship and love that bound us together.
As I drifted off to sleep, I made a silent vow to stand by Adriana's side no matter what challenges lay ahead.

The next morning brought with it a glimmer of hope as Adriana stirred awake, her eyes fluttering open to the soft light filtering through the hospital room window. I sat up in my chair, my heart pounding with relief as I watched her gaze sweep across the room, taking in her surroundings.
"Hey there, sleepyhead," I said, unable to contain the smile that spread across my face.
Adriana's lips curved into a weak smile, and she reached out to take my hand in hers. "Hey, Leah. How long have I been out?"
I glanced at the clock on the wall. "It's been about twelve hours since you woke up briefly last night. How are you feeling?"
Adriana winced slightly as she shifted in her bed, a grimace crossing her face. "Like I've been run over by a truck, but I'll survive."
I chuckled softly, relieved to see her sense of humour still intact despite everything she had been through. "That's the spirit."
Just then, the door to the room swung open, and a nurse entered, a warm smile on her face. "Good morning, Adriana. How are we feeling today?"
Adriana nodded, her gaze meeting the nurse's. "I've been better, but I'm hanging in there."
The nurse nodded, her eyes flicking to the monitors beside Adriana's bed as she checked her vitals. "Well, it looks like you're making good progress. Your heart rate and blood pressure are stable, and your breathing seems to have improved since yesterday."
Adriana's eyes lit up with relief, and she turned to me with a hopeful expression. "Does this mean I'll be able to leave soon?"
The nurse smiled warmly. "We'll need to keep you here for a few more days for observation, just to make sure everything is okay. But if you continue to improve at this rate, there's a good chance you'll be able to go home soon."
Adriana let out a sigh of relief, sinking back against her pillows. "Thank you, Nurse...?"
The nurse smiled. "Call me Sarah. And it's my pleasure, Adriana. Just focus on getting better, okay?"
Adriana nodded, her eyes drifting shut as exhaustion washed over her. I squeezed her hand gently, offering what little comfort I could.
As the nurse finished her assessment and left the room, I settled back into my chair, feeling a sense of cautious optimism settle over me. Despite the challenges that lay ahead, I knew that Adriana was a fighter, and with the love and support of her friends and family, she would emerge from this stronger than ever.
And so, as we settled into another day in the hospital, I vowed to stand by Adriana's side every step of the way, ready to support her through whatever challenges lay ahead. Together, we would navigate the road to recovery, knowing that as long as we had each other, we could overcome anything that stood in our way, regardless of our past together.
