HELLBOUND {Sequel}

Forty-four

__All the G.U.N. soldiers kept their weapons pointed at the Death Egg, but they didn't shoot. Everyone was silent with worry. Tails couldn't stop shaking. How was it even possible that Doctor Eggman managed to catch Shadow of all people off guard and knock him unconscious, no less. Tails was scared.
__"What the hell do you want, Eggman!?" Knuckles had suddenly shouted. He was shaking his fists down his sides.
__"I want you all dead," the human growled from within the giant robot. "You've gotten in my way for far too long!"
__Tails finally snapped out of it and started shouting. "You knew! You knew we were getting ready to evacuate everyone! Why did you wait for them to leave!?"
__"I have no quarrel with those civilians. Besides, I'm going to need more people to enslave anyway, so killing them will do me no good."
__Tails was scowling as he started growling. "You damn bastard!"
__As some of them started moving, the robot had faked trying to squeeze the two mobians in its hand. "Don't move. I won't hesitate to kill them, too."
__Tails caught a quick glimpse of the two unconscious mobians. This was when he saw Shadow opening his eyes. Tails had to make sure he didn't react while Doctor Eggman was speaking. He watched carefully as Shadow slowly wrapped his arms around Rouge before he started glowing red. By the time the Death Egg turned its head, Shadow unleashed his Chaos Blast. The hand was blown off as Shadow teleported away in an instant.
__Sage looked surprised as the two reappeared on the ground in front of everyone. "You! I told you to keep faking and let them deal with this!"
__Shadow snorted as he brought Rouge's head to his chest. "I still can't believe you actually bought that."
__Furious, Sage threw a laser beam at Shadow. The black hedgehog quickly kicked Rouge away before blocking her attack with his arms. His arms were sizzling as he dropped them. He glared at Sage before using his homing attack on her. He managed to throw her back before he turned to his soldiers.
__"G.U.N.! FIRE!" He shouted before returning to his attack.
__All G.U.N. soldiers began firing their weapons while charging at the robot army and the Death Egg. Doctor Eggman had given the command for his robots to attack. One large rhinoceros robot came charging towards the unconscious bat. Scourge had run in and caught its horn. He managed to hold it in place while grunting and moaning to keep it from pushing him back. Knuckles immediately ran to Rouge and put her arm around his shoulders.
__"Come on now! Up and at 'em!" He started to quickly walk with her as she started to slowly wake up.
__Tails had flown to the top of the rhino-bot before pulling out its wires. The robot had shut down, giving Scourge time to let go and back away. After seconds, the robot powered back on. Tails didn't have time to be confused as the rhino-bot started jumping and bucking to get Tails off of it. Tails held on for dear life until Scourge spin dashed through the robot and knocked it down. Tails had fallen on his side with a grunt and looked at the destroyed robot. "Fucking hell! Those crystals must be like a backup generator for them!"
__Scourge ran back and helped Tails stand up. "Up, up, up!"
__Tails got up and started flying around all the panicking Freedom Fighters. "Stay together! Don't let them pick you off!"
__Tails started flying with the other fliers to attack all the flying robots. There were a lot of quick robots that would tackle a few mobians head-on and knock them down. Tails had used his homing attack to destroy any robot he came across. He could see Cream and Cheese teaming up to smash all the robots down to the ground.
__On the ground, Knuckles was leading everyone. He would punch, smash, and spin dashed through all the robots, no problem. Blaze was setting all her enemies on fire. Most of the background characters were firing their wispons while some were driven back. G.U.N. soldiers were running around shooting their guns while some were in their own robotic suits and fighting back against the army.
__Shadow had grabbed Sage by her neck, but the girl shot a laser beam at his face. He was forced to let go of her and retreat. He led her away from everyone else.
__Tails was knocked out of the air by Metal Sonic. The blue robot had pinned him down with one hand while it kept a tight grip on his two tails with its other hand to keep him from flying. It was pulling on them as well to limit their movement. Tails was receiving all the wrong signals as he tried to push himself up, but the robot kept him down. Tails could hear the Death Egg leaning over, and he felt his heartbeat racing.
__"Easy does it now. Those two tails will be worth something, you know?" Doctor Eggman was laughing maniacally as he smacked away all his enemies.
__Tails winced as Metal Sonic dug its fingers into his back. Scourge was running over to Metal Sonic when a green robot tackled him and began pushing him away from Tails. Scourge was shouting angrily at this Metal Scourge for existing once again as he tried to get past it. Tails felt Metal Sonic's grip loosen and took this chance, not caring what would happen to his tails. He quickly turned on to his back and elbowed the blue robot off of him. The robot still clung to his tails, so it pulled him on top of it. Tails was still feeling uncomfortable as he tried to get out of the robot's hand. When Metal Sonic yanked him back, Tails turned and punched it in the face, knocking it down and pulling his tails out of its hand. He ripped out some of his fur, but he started flying anyway. He allowed Knuckles to fight the blue robot and flew up high. He got a look at what was happening. A lot of their allies were being pushed back. Their original plan had fallen.
__"You'll watch them all perish, fox boy," Doctor Eggman had said slowly. "Over two decades, you children always got in my way. I've had enough. It's about time someone put you brats in your place."
__Tails flattened his ears and started growling. "We're not fucking kids! You're just fucking old! We're taking you down just like we always do!"
__"How exactly? You came flying to me unarmed. Not very smart for the boy genius." The Death Egg lifted up its right hand, which had somehow grown back, as it turned into a cannon. "No matter how much time you dedicated yourself to studying and working on your own technology, you could never hope to get to where I am now."
__Tails started flying straight up as the Death Egg shot its laser at him. He stayed up high to keep Doctor Eggman from hitting anyone else. Just as the laser went away, a large hawk robot tackled Tails talons first and smashed him through the window of a large office building. Tails felt all his oxygen leave his body as skidded across the broken glass and floor. Tails almost thought he was dead when Charmy flew in and grabbed the hawk-bot. He threw the robot out the window and helped the fox stand up.
__"Shit, man! You okay!?"
__Tails was coughing harshly before he nodded slowly. "I will be. Fuck."
__"You're bleeding!"
__Tails didn't care. "So what? We have to get back out there."
__"Where's your plane?"
__"I didn't have time to get it!" Tails growled as he started walking to the broken window. "And I had to leave T-Pup with Fiona."
__"Hold on, dude!" Charmy ran over and grabbed Tails from under his shoulders and quickly flew him back down to ground level while dodging all the robots and lasers.
__The Death Egg was slowly walking around while shooting its arm cannons. Charmy had set Tails down gently as Vector punched a large robot before it could get to them. Tails felt really sore all over.
__"Tails!" Cream had run over while holding Cheese. "There's too many! We're being pushed back!"
__"So many of us already had to retreat!" Espio ran in yelling.
__Tails felt lightheaded and was about to topple over before Vector caught him. "Shit. Shit! Shit! Shit! That fucking old man!"
__"Easy! Easy!" Vector was lightly shaking the fox. "You have to get a hold of yourself! What do we do?"
__Tails was looking around frantically. All the other Freedom Fighters and G.U.N. soldiers that didn't retreat were fighting back hard. The Death Egg had started shooting out missiles and bombs. A few of them barely missed the people. This was horrible. No one here was ready. They needed to fall back and figure out what to do.
__"I hate to say it," Tails said slowly. "But we have too..."
__A warp ring appeared next to a young G.U.N. soldier, who got scared and ran the opposite direction as the portal grew bigger. Miles had stepped through the portal. The moebian fox covered his face as the explosion of a bomb through some smoke at him. Once the smoke cleared, he looked around for Tails and smirked. "I told you, brainiac, I'm a man of my word!"
__He turned back to the ring and touched it as it grew bigger. There was an army waiting on the other side. Once Miles gave the command, everyone charged through the battle with their weapons ready. Doctor Kintobor was running, too, with more doctors and nurses. The medics were definitely not part of their agreement. The skinny human was shouting at his fellow doctors to start treating the wounded.
__Tails was shocked to see Bernadette walking towards him with a medkit. "What the hell?"
__The older woman rolled her eyes. "How do you think I know Kintobor?" She muttered in annoyance as she started treating the large gashes on Tails's back, arms, and legs.
__Scourge was holding Predator, who was wounded, and was running around searching. He saw what was happening and ran over to Tails. "So these assholes showed up after all?"
__Tails nodded. "Get this; they brought doctors, too."
__Scourge's ears twitched when he finally noticed his mother. "The hell are you doing here!?"
__Tails had winced when Bernadette wrapped the bandages around his left arm too tight as she glared at her son. "Decided to come out of retirement. I didn't want to be here, but the reward is something to work for."
__Scourge was scowling as he set Predator down on his feet. "You better know what the fuck you're doing."
__Once she was done, Tails walked over to Scourge as she started tending to the blue hawk. "What happened with Metal Scourge?"
__"Well, I left him with my boys and..." He paused when the robot's head barely missed Tails's face and landed in between them. "Yeah. That. Kinda disappointed it's not as good as Metal Sonic. He definitely was a last-minute decision."
__"And Predator?"
__Scourge sighed as he rubbed the back of his quills. "Took a hit for me, but he'll be fine."
__They both went quiet and turned when they heard yelling. They saw a whole horde of sea-mobians charging into the city with their weapons ready. They began attacking the robots and covering for any Freedom Fighter and G.U.N. soldier that needed to retreat. On the other side of the city came the Acorn Army. Tails could see King Elias at the front walking alongside his stepdaughter, who was a teenager now. The king held out his sword and pointed ahead of him as he kept walking.
__"Charge my comrades!" He shouted. "For Princess Sally's honor!"
__And just like that, the entire army screamed as they charged into battle. All three armies attacking the robots gave everyone else time to fall back, heal and gear up, and go into the attack once again. Tails felt extremely relieved. However, the Death Egg was still standing and was not taking any of the hits they threw at it. It kept shooting its arm cannons and laser vision down to the ground. Most of them were able to avoid being hit.
__Scourge had his fists to the sides of his chest and was bouncing from side to side excitedly. "Aw hell yeah!" He yelled out happily. "Now that's an army!"
__"Don't be too excited," Tails warned the hedgehog. "We're still outnumbered."
__Scourge turned to look at Tails before crossing his arms. "Where's your plane at!?"
__"I didn't have time!" He snapped. "You act like you haven't left anything behind in a crisis!"
__That's when Scourge narrowed one eye as he pulled out his shining dagger. "I never forget anything."
__"Mother fucker!"
__Out of nowhere, the green tenrec had crouched down on top of Scourge's head as she started laughing. "Hey there, boomer! Missed me?"
__Scourge started growling as he threw her off of his head and started throwing punches. "You annoying ass copycat!"
__Surge was avoiding all of his hits. "I'm my own character, excuse you!"
__Tails turned and smiled when Kitsunami stood next to him and patted the fennec's shoulder. "You two wanted to help as well?"
__The blue fennec nodded. "Surge was bored. She wanted to join the fight."
__"Can't say I'm disappointed. Thank you." Tails then groaned as he looked back at the other two. "Quit fighting amongst yourselves! You got robots to smash!"
__Surge had smiled as she caught Scourge's fist in her hand. "That's right, old man!"
__Scourge was still growling. "I'm not that much older than you, brat!"
__"Scourge!" Tails shouted.
__Scourge had huffed as he crossed his arms and turned away from the tenrec. "You better not get in my way!"
__"Funny, I was gonna say the exact same thing," Surge had mocked before motioning Kitsunami to follow her. "C'mon, Kit!" She started running as the fennec fox started following after her.
__Once Tails felt a little better, he slapped the sides of his face and held up his fists. "All right! Let's do this!"
__Just as he said that, there was another explosion, and the whole city shook. Tails had lost his balance, forcing Scourge to quickly grab him and keep him standing. Tails still hit his nose on a nearby lamp post and felt a painful sting. He hoped he didn't break it again. He had to grab his nose to deal with the sensation as he turned to see what happened. The Death Egg started shooting its plasmabeam, but it wasn't shooting at the people. It shot at the tall buildings, causing them to melt and fall over. Many people were rushing to get out of the way. Some definitely got crushed.
__"Oh shit," Tails rasped. "I didn't think of it. He's using this location to his advantage."
__Scourge had flattened his ears while he nodded. "Right... and he won't follow us out of the city, huh? That would be allowing him to win this war. He's something all right."
__"You should take the time to go get your plane, Tails!" Doctor Eggman had called out all smug. "Maybe then you'll stand a chance! All that time your friends took to build those rockets for you, wasted! Some leader you are!" He started laughing.
__Tails flattened his ears and started backing up. He couldn't breathe. "He...! He's...!"
__Scourge turned and grabbed his shoulder tightly. "Hey! Don't fucking listen to him! We're good! We can go back out there!"
__Tails was still shaking, but he let go of his nose and nodded. "Yeah... yeah." He took a minute to breathe before snapping out of it. "Let's go!"
__He, Cream, and Charmy all flew straight up while Scourge ran with Vector and Espio tailing behind him. While G.U.N. soldiers helped the medics bring the injured out of the city, Tails and the others began to attack again. Tails and the other fliers were starting to pick off all the robots in the sky while Scourge and the other runners were beginning to thin out the ground robots. Tails had gotten knocked out of the sky once again and had to get caught by Wave of all people on her hoverboard. She carefully brought him to the ground before giving him a playful salute and heading back up in the sky. Tails had groaned and turned to see that Scourge was now fighting Metal Sonic. They had been evenly matched until Metal Sonic swiftly moved its right hand and just barely scratched the side of Scourge's face.
__"Aw, mother fucker!" Scourge had covered the side of his face with one hand while he pulled out his dagger with the other. He started swinging it at the robot. Usually, the robot duplicate wouldn't hesitate to attack back and disarm him, but for some reason, it was backing away until it had enough distance to retreat. Scourge stared down at his dagger in confusion.
__Tails's ears twitched as he ran over to Scourge and took the dagger from him before examining it. "That's it! Eggman gave his robots the power from those crystals by using the Chaos Emeralds! Your Anarchy Beryl can take it away!"
__Scourge took the dagger back and smirked. "Hell yeah! I know what my job is!"
__But Tails frowned as he checked the scratches on Scourge's face. "You all right, man?"
__Scourge didn't stop Tails from putting his hand on his gashes. "Yeah! I've had worse!" He gestured to his large twin scars on his chest and stomach.
__Tails turned when he heard Shadow call out. It appeared that Sage somehow was quick enough to shoot a laser beam at his face. The black hedgehog was gripping onto his face while still trying to avoid the girl. Before Tails could move, Scourge ran faster. Just as Sage was going to shoot another laser beam, Scourge tackled her and dug her into the icy pavement. He then held his dagger against her face to keep her still while Shadow was able to gather some snow and press it on his face.
__The Death Egg turned suddenly when Sage let out a shriek and aimed its right cannon at them. "Get your grubby hands off my daughter!"
__Just as Sage teleported away, forcing Scourge to lose his balance and fall on his face, the Death Egg shot its cannon. Scourge wasn't reacting as he pushed himself up. Shadow had quickly lept towards Scourge. He wrapped his arms around the moebian and teleported them right next to Tails before the large laser beam could hit them. Tails turned and helped them both stand up before looking at Shadow.
__"Your face!" The fox exclaimed.
__Shadow rubbed another batch of snow on his face before he shook off the discomfort. There wasn't any damage on his face at all. "I'm fine." He then turned to point and glare at Scourge. "You need to watch yourself!"
__Scourge snorted as he started rubbing off the ice and snow from his leather jacket. "Yeah, yeah. Thanks, bro."
__Shadow snorted before he started walking back into battle. "I'm not your bro."
__"Whatever you say!" Scourge called back to him with a smirk.
__There was another explosion. This time, both Tails and Scourge fell over. Knuckles was running over to them. It looked like he got stabbed in the left arm, but he still helped them stand up. Tails shook himself and looked at Scourge.
__"Hurry up and use your dagger, man! Fuck!" He shouted.
__Scourge grunted as he started spinning the dagger in his hand. "Don't tell me to hurry, asshole!"
__He started running and stabbed the first robot he saw that had a sea mobian pinned down. The whole thing had short-circuited as Scourge pulled out the dagger and watched it power down. He almost looked proud of himself as he started running around, slashing through all the robots that got in his way.
__"Is Scourge injured?" Knuckles had asked. It didn't seem like the wound on his arm bothered him.
__Tails narrowed his eyes at the echidna. "What the hell is that?" He pointed at the stab wound.
__Knuckles looked confused before he checked out his arm. "Oh. Didn't see that."
__Rouge had flown down and started yelling at them. "What are you doing!? Get back out there!"
__Tails and Knuckles immediately split up and went their own way. He could hear lots of explosions and screaming as he fought against the robots. He had to bounce back at one point to avoid getting hit by Sage as she flew away from Shadow. Surge and Kitsunami were running around together while electrocuting the robots. Blaze was setting her opponents on fire to cover the fleeing wounded. Cream was in the air, but Cheese was nowhere to be seen. She was fighting on her own. She would punch and kick through all the flying robots while crushing the robots beneath her. When she flew back up high, she dodged a hawk-bot only to get shot at by another. She started to fall, so Tails went to catch her and brought her down to cover behind some trash bins.
__"Hey!" Tails was shaking the rabbit. "You okay!?"
__Cream stood up and tried to rub the black stain off her dress. "Fine! Fine!"
__They both jumped and hollered when a large robot lifted up the bin they were hiding behind. Out of instinct, Tails pushed Cream out of the way as the robot punched Tails and threw him through the window of a restaurant. Tails felt a lot of pain as he tried to stand himself up. He was engulfed in the robot's shadow. Shaking, he tried to move away to avoid its weapons.
__Out of nowhere, a large yellow robot wolf ran in from behind and grabbed the robot's arm with its teeth before it ripped it off. The large robot turned to face it only to get tackled by the robot wolf and get its head blown off by its laser vision. Tails up at and stared at the robot wold in awe as it ran over to him excitedly while wagging its tail.
__"T-Pu--T-9!" Tails had shouted happily. He grabbed T-9's head and started rubbing the sides of its face. "How, and why?"
__T-9 had taken a couple of steps back before its eyes lit up and showed a holographic video on Fiona in front of Tails. The vixen was smiling as she waved.
__"Hey, Tails! Sorry about this, but I couldn't figure out how to silence my communicator with all the distress signals, and T-Pup just wouldn't stop whining. I went ahead and gave him a Chaos Emerald and told him to go. Don't worry! I still have the others! Just make sure Scourge doesn't overdo it, 'kay? Bye!"
__T-9 shut off the video message and stared down at Tails while panting. Tails was both bothered, yet relieved that Fiona decided to let his T-Pup join in the fight. "All right, buddy! Let's do this!"
__T-9 had laid down and let Tails climb on before it stood up and started running to another window.
__"T-9, wait! There's already an open window!"
__Tails braced himself as T-9 jumped through the window and began its charge. A lot of mobians and humans had to stop in their tracks and get out of their way before staring at them in confusion. Tails held on tight as T-9 started shooting its lasers and flamethrower at all the other robots. It was moving so fast, too. Any large robot that would dare get in their way were met with T-9's fangs and dismantled.
__A missile had come out of nowhere and headed towards them. T-9 had seen this and threw Tails of it before it started leading the missile away. Tails took this opportunity to spin dash through a line of smaller robots. He was doing fine when Metal Sonic grabbed him from behind by his neck and lifted him off the ground. Tails had a hard time breathing as he tried kicking his legs to move out of its grip. All of a sudden, a long tongue wrapped itself around its arms and forced it to drop Tails. The fox turned around and saw that Metal Sonic was able to pull out one of its arms and cut the tongue off. Tails flattened his ears when it looked down at him. Then it turned its head just as T-9 rammed itself into it and began fighting it.
__Tails stood up and ran over to the frog, who had his mouth open and was staring down and the blood pouring out of his mouth. Tails caught a quick glance at the cut tongue before grabbing Flying's shoulder. "Hey! Hey! You still with me?"
__Flying had smiled. "Uh-huh! Lookie here!" Tails had let go and back away as Flying extended his tongue. It was only half of what it had been. "Ah thill hab dis mup!"
__Tails couldn't look at his bleeding tongue. "Good, good! Go get your tongue and join Predator!"
__Flying retracted his tongue and made a salute. "Okie-dokie!" He then started crawling away after he grabbed his severed tongue.
__Tails turned back to help T-9. The two robots were struggling to push each other back. It took until Tails rammed himself against the robot duplicate for Metal Sonic to topple over. The blue robot was about to grab Tails when T-9 grabbed its arm and pulled it off. This was when Scourge came running and stabbed his dagger into Metal Sonic's head. Metal Sonic started spazzing out until the red lights in its eyes turned off, and then it toppled over.
__Scourge pulled out his dagger and jumped back in fear when T-9 ran over to him and started barking excitedly. "Holy fucking shit, dude! When did he get here!?"
__Tails grabbed T-9's head and pulled it over to his face. "Fiona donated a Chaos Emerald to him and had him join us."
__"He's bigger than last year!"
__"We used the chaos energy from your Anarchy Beryl then, not a whole emerald."
__T-9 started growling as it turned to face the Death Egg. Tails and Scourge started backing away as it started walking towards them. There were people screaming and running all over the place. Despite that Scourge was able to thin out the opposing army, there were still too many robots swarming them.
__"I'm starting to get bored," the human had called out. Tails flattened his ears when the Death Egg's chest opened up and was readying its giant plasma cannon. "I wanna wreak havoc!"
__T-9 had sprung forward and started running. From both of its sides came two rockets. While growling and barking, it released those rockets and shot them up at the Death Egg. The giant robot's cannon had paused as it stumbled backward, but the human was laughing.
__"Come now, little mutt! Even in this supposed 'super form', you can only hold two missiles!"
__The cannon was starting up again when two larger rockets shot out from the sky and hit the plasma blaster directly. The Death Egg had lost its balance and toppled on to its back. Everyone looked up and saw the Tornado flying in while doing barrel rolls. As the Death Egg stood itself up, Tails could see that it was, in fact, Sonic flying the Tornado. He shot out two more rockets at the Death Egg, but this time, it kept its balance and started shooting its laser beams at the plane. Sonic continued to spin around as he flew straight up to avoid them. He began to circle the giant robot from above, and there was Amy sitting in the back seat. She had stood up from the plane just as her Piko Piko Hammer appeared into her hands. She then jumped off the plane and hit her hammer against the robot's face, knocking it straight down on to its back again. Amy had to throw her tarot cards around her in order to float down safely.
__When the robots started attacking the people again, Sonic had flown down to the city. Once he landed, he hopped out of the plane and ran through all the nearby robots while the others fled back to the Death Egg. When all was fine, Amy ran over to Sonic and hugged him from behind. The two hedgehog pressed their heads together for a few seconds before they walked over to Tails.
__"Sonic!?" Tails ran over to meet them. "What are you...!?"
__Sonic had pulled out his communicator from his quills and put it back on his left wrist. "I couldn't keep sitting around while these alarms went off. Fiona had said you left our plane behind, so we went and got it for you."
__Tails had flattened his ears when everyone else started cheering for Sonic's return, but he was happy, too. "I'm glad you could make it."
__Sonic smiled until he saw what became of Metal Sonic and groaned. "What the hell? I was supposed to be the one to take him down in the end! Who did this?"
__Scourge began whistling while he backed away. Sonic saw this and ran over to headlock him. "It was you! That faker was mine!"
__Scourge was laughing as he tried to pull away. "Whatever, dude! That old man will make another! He always does!"
__ Tails turned to Amy. "Eli's back home?" He had to ask.
__Amy nodded. "Uncle Chuck and Manic stayed behind with Dad to watch her."
__Tails felt drowned out when the other Freedom Fighters ran over and started asking Sonic what to do. Everyone else was so relieved now that the big hero was back. Of course they were.
__But Sonic looked a bit overwhelmed. Flattening his own ears, he held up his hands and took a step back. "What are you guys talking about? I have no idea what the hell is going on!" He dropped his hands and perked his ears back up as he looked to Tails. "Well?"
__Tails's ears had perked up as well. He couldn't help but smile at Sonic. "He's been using these crystals to power up his robots, and they also serve as a backup energy source. Scourge's dagger can extract that energy. We just have to keep pushing through Eggman's army and destroy that Death Egg. If we can just get Eggman out of there, we have a shot at winning."
__Sonic had grabbed Tails's hand out of nowhere and made them high-five. "Now that's a plan I can get by! Let's do this!"
__Tails felt super happy and excited. He looked at the plane when an idea sprouted in his head, and he ran over to Scourge. "You're with me, bud!"
__Scourge looked like he understood. "You got it!"
__When the two started running to the plane, everyone started running past them and started attacking the robots. While T-9 ran with Gemerl and E-123 Omega into battle, Tails flew into his plane while Scourge climbed up on to the top and held on tight. Tails got the plane ready and started moving. Once it was fast enough, he lifted it up and started flying just as the large Death Egg stood up.
