CHAPTER TWO
A NATURAL COBRA
≪ ◦ ❖ ◦ ≫

MERCY DESPERATELY NEEDS A FUNCTIONING SLEEP RHYTHM.

Sleeping whenever she is tired is not really working anymore. She notices that in the fact that she can't stop yawning on their way to the fence. And maybe also at the fact that she slept three hours last night because she had taken a four hour nap during the day.

"You sure you're not gonna miss them?" Tory nods to the boys walking a few feet ahead of them.

Kyler's obnoxious voice is so loud that they might as well could've used the front entrance of the zoo, everyone in a three mile radius has probably heard them already.

Even though it was a rhetorical question, she can't help it but answer.

"I'm pretty sure." Focused on the ground in front of her, Mercy doesn't see the smile on her friend's face.

Tory and Mercy might not agree on everything, but they sure as hell agree on the fact that the boys, especially Kyler, are nothing but annoying.

Training was exhausting, truthfully speaking, but that is exactly what she loves about it. But she can feel the exercises deep in her bones as she's walking through the forest.

"Maybe you're gonna miss someone else," she tells her and the curious look is back in her blue eyes.

"Sure, I'm gonna miss you," Mercy agrees, one hand slapping her best friend's shoulder affectionately.

"I'm not talking about me, I'm talking about Robby."

Her eyes squeezed together in irritation, she turns her head around to her friend. Tory's smiling all innocently at her.

"What are you talking about?" She asks.

Why on earth would she miss Robby?

Tory shrugs her shoulders.
"I don't know. Or you'll miss his hair."

Mercy lets out a quiet groan, that really has been the stupidest thing she could've said.

"What about you? Why were you running after him?" She tilts her head slightly, but Tory keeps shrugging her shoulders.

"You'll see."

And before she can continue to question her, they reach the others.

"We should talk things through again," Hawk says as soon as everyone reached the fence. And right on cue, all of them let out a sigh.
