-----Childe's POV----- 

Doll💜⚡: I am in Sumeru. Do not come after me Ajax.

I'd just opened my eyes upon reaching Sumeru, hearing the boat's captain call out to me, and of course, the first thing I'd done was check my phone. I wasn't really expecting a response, but I was pleasantly surprised. 

Just because I'd stick to my word of not spamming him anymore, that doesn't mean I'll do as he says though. Did he really think that would work?

I reacted to his message with that weird ass fucking squirt emoji, knowing he'd make a grossed out face over it because it's funny. (💦) Scara always has the cutest reactions to the stupid things I do. 

After I closed my phone again, I slipped it into a hidden pocket and heaved myself up and out of the boat, waving a small thank you to the captain with a smile. 

Now I've just got to think of where exactly to go. Sumeru is a fairly large nation, but the desert area can probably be crossed off for the same reason as Natlan. So that's a large chunk out of the way. His hat would cover him from the sun, but he still probably be annoyed by it. As well as that as far as I'm aware, his funky geta shoes and sand don't go together.

Maybe I could take a peek through Port Ormos and then head up to the city. That sounds like a good enough bet for me, though I'm not sure what he's doing there. Maybe he'll get the dendro archon's gnosis over there? 

What does he even want with the gnosis? Maybe the electro gnosis could be written off as trying to get back at his dearest mummy, the electro archon, but if he's going for the dendro one too, then why? Is he planning to go against the Tsaritsa?

If he does, where does that leave me?

My loyalty lies with the Tsaritsa, but, I don't want to leave Kuni. Fuck, we'll cross that bridge if it comes to it. I'm jumping to conclusions. I don't even know whether or not that's his plan yet.

I need to focus on the here and now, and on finding him. That is all.

So I made quick work of checking through Port Ormos, asking locals if they'd seen a short purply blue haired boy recently, but unfortunately each response rang to the tune of 'no.' There was however, mention of a different blue haired individual, pale blue, and on the taller side of things, rather than short.

Dottore.

It's unlikely that he's staying exclusively in Port Ormos, but just his presence here means that Scaramouche likely isn't too close by. Next stop, Sumeru city I guess. It's best to quickly knock off the larger places before focusing on the far more numerous small spots he could be hiding away in. He is small too, so maybe he wedged himself into a hollow tree to hide away.

Either way, I need to be thinking on my feet, I can travel and consider this at the same time, surely.

Maybe not. After getting on the path to Sumeru city, my mind may have wandered a little all over the place. I kicked a few rocks off the path, saw some hilichurls and fungi so I off to go fight them, and stared at the sky whilst counting clouds until I finally arrived at the gates of the city.

Either way after arriving, I did the same drill, asking around to anyone who would pay me any attention. Sumeru City is far bigger than Port Ormos, so I'd had a lot taken out of me. This shit is tiring and the sun has already gone down. 

If days are wasting away like this, how in hell am I supposed to find him before he moves on elsewhere...? I sat down in a corner on the floor, assuming fetal position to kinda just sleep out the night there and get back to it tomorrow.

"Hi there!!" - ???

I lifted my head back up to see what appeared to be just any normal Sumeru citizen, but her voice wasn't at all suited for that body.

"Hello...?" - Childe

"You're looking for the Balladeer, right?" - ????

I straightened up right away, what does she know about Scaramouche?

"Yes, I am. Do you know something?" - Childe

"I'm lesser lord Kusanali! I've heard a few whispers about your colleague and I'd love to help you out if I can, hehe!" - Nahida?

That doesn't seem right... She doesn't look at all like an archon, and if she still is somehow, why exactly would she lend me a hand?

"I can tell you're sceptical, I'm currently in a predicament of my own and can't come using my physical body, so I'm temporarily controlling this person's body. I hope you don't mind!" - Nahida

"Uhhh, right. Either way, archon or not, what do you know about the Balladeer? I'm on an important,,, mission,,, from the Tsaritsa to find him." - Childe

"You don't need an excuse to be looking for him, it's okay!" - Nahida

It almost feels like she's avoiding the question from how she's answering other questions but not where he is. Is it bad news? Either way, I stood up, looking at the 'archon' with a serious expression. I need to know whatever she does.

"Please tell me where he is." - Childe

The way her expression contorted slightly was a bad sign.

"I don't know his exact location, but I know he's working with The Doctor and the Matra on a project of sorts. I think the end goal is to make him into a god." - Nahida

The Doctor? Dottore? Why in hell is Scaramouche willingly working with him after all the previous fucked up and painful experiments on his body? I know he wants to become a god because it's his purpose or something, but seriously? And why didn't he tell me?

My lack of response prompted Lesser Lord Kusanali to resume talking

"I'm currently unable to do anything to help you find his actual location due to being locked up in a separate location by the Matra. I don't know if he's doing it willingly or not, I can't really tell you anything else since that's all I know, I'm sorry." - Nahida

"No no, it's okay. Thank you for what you have been able to tell me. Knowing him, it probably is willingly, but I still need to find him and see for myself what's going on." - Childe

The body that held the archon's conscious temporarily nodded before turning to walk away.

"I'll leave that to you from here then, okay?" - Nahida

All I could really do was wordlessly nod. That was only partially helpful, I know what he's doing, but I don't know where to find him. The next step is probably to head back to Port Ormos and find Dottore, since he was seen there.

But for now, I need some rest...

A/N: Whoopsie, it's been a little, I've been writing small bits of this chapter for weeks between school work, but I'm in my final year of high school now so there's a lot to keep up with KJSDFHKJSDHF. 

Also if you notice me messing up bits of how the Sumeru story went, no you don't. It's been forever since I did those quests so I'm just stringing together whatever I remember and hoping it works out. 

If I ever decide to rewrite this story since I've improved a bunch in the duration of this, I'll make sure to redo the Sumeru archon quest before I get to this part KJSDHFJKSD
