Shattered Dreams Due to Unforeseen Consequences

Chapter 20 The Queen arrives on 29th December.

I let go of Shawn's hand and rushed forward to my honorary grandparents. I threw my arms around my grandfather, and he hugged me tightly. Tears streamed down my face as I felt the love and warmth of his embrace.

"Everything will be okay, Cassandra. I promise you," Prince Phillip said as he hugged me tightly. I could feel the love and compassion emanating from his embrace, and I felt a sense of peace and security.

His words were like a balm to my soul, and I knew that no matter what happened, I had a family who loved me and would always be there for me. I reluctantly left his arms and turned to my honorary grandmother. I curtsied before her, and she smiled and opened her arms. I walked into her embrace and felt the same warmth and security that I had felt from my grandfather. I hugged her tightly, tears streaming down my face as I thought how lucky I was to have them both.

"I missed you, Cassandra." Queen Elizabeth said. "I missed you too, Grandma," I said, burying my face in her shoulder. "It's been so long since I've seen you. I'm so happy to be here." Queen Elizabeth hugged me tightly, and I could feel her love and compassion. "We will sort everything out, Cassandra," she said gently. "Phillip is right; you and the twins will be alright." William and Kate both smiled at me, and I smiled back. Grandmother Elizabeth held me tightly for a few moments longer, not wanting to let me go. Finally, she stepped back and wiped the tears from my face.

She smiled at me and said, "You are as beautiful as ever, Cassandra." I turned and motioned for Shawn to come forward. He slowly stepped forward, looking a bit apprehensive. I could tell he was nervous, but not why. "Your Majesties, may I have the pleasure of introducing you to Shawn Mendes, the father of my twins?" I said, motioning for Shawn to bow. Shawn bowed, looking slightly uncomfortable, but he managed a small smile.

"It is an honour to meet you both," he said, his voice a bit shaky.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr Mendes," Queen Elizabeth said, giving him a warm smile. Prince Phillip gave him an assessing look and said, "A pleasure, I am sure, Mr Mendes. We will talk later." Shawn gulped a bit, "Would you please do me the honour of coming inside?" Shawn said, then continued ", My mother Karen, father Manny, sister Aaliyah, Cassie and I's twins, and Prince Harry are inside." Queen Elizabeth smiled warmly and nodded her head.

"Of course, we'd love to come inside and meet your family." Prince Phillip clapped his hands and said, "Lead the way, Mr Mendes." They all followed Shawn into the house, and I could see the excitement in the twins' eyes as they realised who was coming in. The twins ran on their toddler's legs, yelling, "Gamma Gamma, Gampa, Gampa, you're here!" Lizzie ran to Prince Phillip, and Phillip ran to Queen Elizabeth, both trying to get to their grandparents first.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip laughed and reached for their grandchildren, picking up the twins and hugging them tightly. "It's so good to see you," Queen Elizabeth said, her eyes twinkling with love. Prince Phillip smiled and kissed both of the twins on the forehead. "We've missed you," he said. The twins beamed and hugged their grandparents tightly.

I quickly stepped forward and gave both William and Kate a quick hug, welcoming them warmly. "It's wonderful to see you both here," I said, smiling brightly. They smiled back, and William said, "It's wonderful to see you, too, Cassandra."

William looked over my shoulder and glared at Harry, who was standing by the couch, waiting his turn to greet his grandparents. His face was a mask of displeasure, and I could tell he wasn't happy about the situation. He sighed heavily and shook his head as if he knew something I didn't.

I turned to Harry and gave him an apologetic look, but he just shrugged and smiled. "It's alright," he said, as if he had expected it. He stepped forward and bowed slightly to Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip, saying, "It's a pleasure to see you again, Grandmother, Grandfather."
