He was in the bathroom as he thought about his current situation.

He woke up in an unknown place, all he remembered from the night before as he was about to fall asleep was that he was reading a book "The Birth of a Hero".

And now he seemed to be in the book he read, he was in the body of Cale Henituse a minor villain. Kim Rok Soo became Cale Henituse but he still seemed strangely calm.

Cale thought as he looked up at the ceiling.

"It's not like I regret my old life."

His life as Kim Rok Soo, hadn't been good. Aside from being an orphan and penniless, he also developed anemia during his teenage years due to malnutrition.

He managed to control it with medication, even though it was hard for him to get them, he almost managed to live normally despite his health problems thanks to them even though everything went downhill after the apocalypse.

Even with this disorder, he never thought about dying. He didn't like pain or death. No matter what it was, even if he was rolling in a pile of dog shit, it was still better than being dead.

«For that reason, I have to make sure I don't get beaten up first.»

In a way he was glad to have gotten rid of that in this new body even if his pale skin brought back memories of the state of his own body back then. It's just a birth factor right? He looked at his hand as he thought it, an ominous feeling came to him but he quickly ignored it.

He was brought out of his thoughts by Ron's voice calling out to him. He quickly came out of the bathroom and Ron then helped him get dressed for the day.

"Something simple." He remembered in the novel that all Cale Henituse wore were complicated clothes, he absolutely did not want that, he preferred very simple things. Once that was over he had lunch with his family before heading to the office.

The office was completely empty. He took a seat there so he could start working.

The document he had worked so hard to write in Korean had already burned in the fire. No one here knew Korean, but he had to be careful. He had also told all the servants not to enter the office without his permission.

«Anyway, I remember everything.»

Kim Rok Soo had always been good at remembering the things he liked. Comics, novels, movies, no matter what it was, as long as he liked them, he was able to remember the names and appearances of the characters. Of course, if he didn't like something, he wouldn't remember it at all.

Cale leaned back in the chair and thought about what he should do in the future.

«First, I have to see Choi Han tomorrow and then...»

The corners of his lips began to slowly rise.

«I have to take the shield.»

To live a long time without dying, he had no intention of fighting.

To achieve this goal, the first step was to strengthen his defenses. The second step was to find a recovery method. The third was to be faster than anyone else. Fourth, there was a force that didn't harm him but could kill others.

Of course, the most important thing was to avoid the battlefield and any other place where blood could be shed.

Cale thought about his so-called plans while slowly closing his eyes in satisfaction.

«At least I won't be beaten even when the time comes to do so in the novel.»

The Indestructible Shield. Cale thought about this first formless force he was going to acquire. The corners of his lips that had been raised didn't seem to be able to go back down.

Fateful encounters had no owner. It was a first-come, first-served deal. As he was organizing his plans, he suddenly opened his eyes a violent headache overwhelmed him. In his panic he got up from his chair but his vision blurred. He quickly tried to hold on to the desk with one hand, the other being on his head even though he did that, he still ended up passing out. He tried to move his body away from the desk so as not to hurt himself but too late his left side hit the corner of the desk violently.

«This will definitely leave marks...» He thought before losing consciousness.

Special note for new readers of this story:

First of all, welcome to you. Then if you have any doubts about my choice in Cale's illness, I advise you to continue reading. There are additional things in the following chapters that can explain his state of health, not everything is due to anemia. However, I would be happy to debate in the comments with those who wish to speak directly about my choice. I am open to any conversation.

Happy reading. 🤗
