Chapter 22

Once inside Eric helped Cale sit at their table before taking a seat himself. Basen and Gilbert quickly joined them.

"Let us know if you're feeling unwell and don't even think about moving without one of us helping you." He simply nodded to his brother, it's not like he could do it anyway.

"Where's Amiru?" Cale asked, genuinely intrigued and trying to distract them from him.

"I'm not sure but she'll definitely be back." Eric knew her and was sure she was trying to reach Count Deruth somehow. He couldn't think of what would happen by the end of the evening. He looked at the empty wine cup in front of him before sighing.

"It's been a long time, young masters." 

Cale didn't even need to turn around to know who was talking to them, after the subordinate here comes the master.

"Young master Venion." Basen stood up to greet him as was proper. He didn't give his brother time to do anything, he put a hand on his shoulder keeping him seated.

"Forgive my brother's rudeness but there was an incident with your... friend." He emphasized the word friend, all while staring at a Neo who instantly became even paler. He knew he was going to cause more trouble for the young master but that was his intention.

"What incident? I'm sorry but I just arrived, I didn't hear about it." Venion seemed really confused.

Basen kindly took the time to explain to him before telling him anything else. "...Count Henituse will obviously have a meeting with your friend and we will decide what we will do about it and we will also appreciate that he does not approach him anymore."

Vénion did not seem to change his expression as he was seething with anger inside, everyone was aware that the Stan family had a stranglehold on Viscount Tolz this incident was going to have repercussions on both their families. Everyone looked at her questioningly but she was content to smile without answering.

Shortly after the royal family entered, other guests appeared. Cage and Taylor, everyone seemed surprised except Basen and Cale while Venion seemed furious.

Only the prince seemed delighted to see them arrive and promised them a discussion later before offering them a place at the table of the nobles of the Northeast. Taylor and Cage now seated greeted everyone before noting the pale state of the young master. They couldn't ask anything so as not to arouse suspicion that they knew each other but they would certainly ask later.

Once everyone had arrived, it was time to serve the meal. A large number of servants had appeared with plates to begin the service. Cale almost sighed in relief, eating might help with his headache.

After a meal that was good enough for a royal palace but still not up to Beacrox's, it was now time for the guests to go greet the crown prince, Alberu Crossman.

"You should stay here and not come with us." Basen looked at him worriedly, the incident had been a few hours ago but he still looked pale.

"I'm fine." He stood up to walk, it took him a few seconds for his body to adjust to the new position but he didn't fall.

His brother and friends hovered awkwardly around him until they arrived in front of the crown prince.

Alberu Crossman had obviously heard about the incident and decided to speak to young master Cale first so that he could return to his table as quickly as possible. It is in his capacity as host of the evening that he must pay attention to his guests.

The prince did not seem to know what to say while Eric, Gilbert and Basen were looking at Amiru. She was the only person who had disappeared for a few minutes and who would have had time to do something. 

"You warned the count, didn't you?" Eric asked for confirmation, even though he already knew her answer.

"Of course." She replied with a smile.

A little earlier, when Amiru disappeared.

The young woman had seen Basen talking to a guard. She had approached to hear their conversation and the man seemed to have seen the incident.

Once the young master entered the palace, Amiru went out to talk to the man. She finally convinced him to follow her and go meet the doctor who had taken care of Cale.

"Hello, I would like to thank you for your help earlier and ask you something."

"It's nothing, what do you need?" He seemed intrigued by her request.

"This person saw the incident and since you treated the young master Cale, I would like to contact Count Henituse with your testimonies. This could lead to the culprit being convicted more quickly." Naturally, he agreed. Together, the small group set out to find a mage or someone who could link an orb to the county. Alberu coughed awkwardly before addressing his guests. "I apologize for this inconvenience but I am sure that all this will be settled quickly. You can continue."

The crown prince quickly spoke with the nobles of the northeast to be able to speak to his aunt. The nobles were about to return to their seats when Cale stumbled once again, Alberu who was still close to him caught him before the young master Eric helped Cale walk towards their table.
