Yeonjun was panting rigidly because of the way he had sprinted here. Once his breathing was caught up to its normal pace again, he started to look for his Beomgyu, eyes roaming here and there to spot the certain walnut head.
And that was when the pair of his eyes fell on the familiar figure, which was leaning lamely against an enormous tree, foot tapping the ground in a slow swiftness. No sooner had Yeonjun seen the boy than light beamed in his eyes.
A smile of tenderness played on his lips as he jogged towards Beomgyu. The walnut head was rather nervous, teeth nibbling on his bottom lip which was now kind of pinkish and swollen.
Cute.
"I'm here honey!" Yeonjun squealed, embracing the younger boy in a swift hug. He unwrapped his arms the next second, considering that Beomgyu didn't like hugs.
A scowl appeared on Beomgyu's face, expressions a little furrowed. He was trying at an extreme rate to hide the nervousness, the fact that he felt his heart was trying to come up through his throat and forming a lump, that he couldn't breathe finely at the exploding racing of his insanely beating heart.
"Say something?" Confused, Yeonjun spoke again, as waiting for the younger to speak up just increased the silence.
"Yeonjun?" Inhaling deeply, the walnut-head called out.
The mentioned one immediately shot his head to meet the younger's vision. The way his eyes glowed when he looked at the younger made Beomgyu feel dizzy.
"Uh..." Beomgyu was at a loss for words, staring at the front with a blank head. All the confessions he had planned inside his head while he had been waiting for this moment seemed so hard to utter right now.
"You okay?" Concern filled the older's eyes He stretched out his hand to cup Beomgyu's cheek gently.
The younger hummed. His heart skipped a beat, feeling the gentle warmth of Yeonjun on his skin. He shut his eyelids close, enjoying the affectionate contact. He couldn't think of anything else, all that occupied his mind was the certain pink-haired handsome guy, Yeonjun.
A smile of passion formed on the pink-head's lips. It was the moment he lost all his senses, ignored all his surroundings, and pulled Beomgyu closer, smashing their lips onto each other.
Yeonjun pulled back the moment his plump-swollen lips had brushed over Beomgyu's. His head was dreadfully empty when he uttered those three words against the younger's chapped lips. "I like you."
A wave of electric shock washed all over Beomgyu's body. With an awfully blank mind, his eyes had fluttered open, heart forgetting for a moment that it had a job to beat.
It was as if someone invisible had whacked his senses back into his head, Beomgyu peeled himself away from the pink-head. His heart throbbed in pain but he knew he had to do this. It was now or never. "Do you like me enough to let me go?" He asked with a poker face.
"What?" Not even understanding a single word, Yeonjun blurted.
"I'm not someone who has the ability to love." Swallowing down the urge to cry, the walnut-head uttered. "I'm an asshole. And I like you too much to hurt you on my own." He glanced away. He couldn't keep gazing at the pair of eyes that was looking at him with a hurtful plead, that made him feel so wildly blameworthy.
Yeonjun shut his eyelids tight as a disguise for the teardrops that threatened to roll down anytime. "Give yourself a chance." His voice sounded like it could crack in no time.
"I'm tired of it, of givin' myself chances that I know I'll miss anyways." Beomgyu sighed. His heart honestly clenched too much. But of course, he couldn't expose the broken part of him. So he never in a while met the older's eyes. He was so nicely aware of the fact that if he even once glimpsed at those pair of hurtful eyes, shame and guilt would make tears stream down his face. "You never seen the me that I always hide Yeonjun. None of y'all have. Let me go, it's for your own good." He made an effort to smile, but it rather came out as a heartbroken chuckle.
Yeonjun tried gulping the lump in his throat. "Beomgyu, look at me." He demanded, voice trembling. His eyes were twinkling with tears, which seemed to strike out of the waterline in the next few blinks he would do.
At first, the younger didn't obey, remaining the stubborn brat he was. But the boy eventually had to, as his cheeks were cupped by two palms which forced him to look. "What do you want, boy?" He screamed the moment their gazes met.
It was hard to hold himself back like that, honestly. He wanted to blurt out all the things that were going on inside his heart, a heart that twitched so much. But instead, he just gazed at Yeonjun with darkened eyes.
The pink-head smiled despite the large drop of teardrop that rolled down his left cheek. "You." He whispered, voice pacified. "You don't need to give yourself a chance. Give me a chance. Let me prove, that all chances don't end up in the gutter." Another tear escaped his eyes, which firmly held eye contact with Beomgyu, reflecting silent begging.
"I'm scared-" Tears prickled at the back of the walnut-head's eyes. "I- I hate how I'm left alone always." His voice cracked a bit. He felt the teardrops almost escaping the waterline.
"I won't. I promise." Yeonjun was trying mightily to make Beomgyu his. He couldn't let go of this chance of turning all the scenarios he had plotted in his head while being stuck inside those sleepless nights, the reality.
"Everyone says that." Ah! Could someone stop his heart from bleeding and clenching like that? Sighing softly, Beomgyu flashed a dry chuckle. "Can we not talk about this?"
"Beomgyu, I like you and that's all I know." Yeonjun remarked firmly. "If you don't accept me now, I'll follow you everywhere like a shameless bastard. From heaven to hell. From school to university. Bear in mind that I've no intention to leave you alone." He warned, more teardrops rolling down his cheeks as he bit his swollen lips a little to prevent them.
The younger flatly smiled, worried that if he did accept Yeonjun at this moment, he was probably risking the older's mental state. "You wanna end up gettin' hurt that bad?"
"If the reason's you, I swear by Jesus I'll be okay." The pink-head promised, eyes reflecting the depth of his words.
"You don't get it-" Beomgyu tried protesting when was talked over.
"You don't!" Yeonjun's voice was a little louder and the younger was grateful in his mind that he had chosen an empty place. "C'mon, just give it a chance." He pleaded. "I know you ain't a coward. You said you liked me. Please, please can't you spare me a chance?" His eyes went watery again as he begged desperately.
Beomgyu peeled his gaze away from the insisting face and looked away. He swallowed thickly, heart thumping roughly against his chest. He felt like running away from the truth that lay in front.
Inhaling a large breath to soothe his racing heart, he finally opened his mouth to say something. But the words didn't come out as he wanted.
"Fine." was everything he could jerk out of his dry throat.
