The next day was at school, and Dazai thought it would be normal. Emphasis on thought.
Their group seemed normal, but it was clear that Dazai and Chuuya wanted to avoid each other. Fine. Perfect. Not anything to be worried about.
This went on for 2 days.
Normalcy. And then, shit got weird.
There was a new girl at school, Yuan. Weird ass name, if you asked Dazai, And her hair was fucking pink. Fine ok, some people like pink. Fuck this, Dazai liked pink.
But she stuck to Chuuya like glue.
She would not go anywhere without him, and it was pissing Dazai off. No one else seemed to mind, and they thought she was a sweet girl.
"Sugar's sweet too but it can send you into cardiac arrest." Dazai muttered, to which Akutagwa gave him a weird look. Dazai couldn't tell anyone why he didn't like her without telling them that he liked Chuuya.
No, fuck like. Chuuya was going to be his, and a pinkie wasn't going to get in his way. "You are literally glowering at them." Gin said from his side, as Dazai stabbed a poor potato on his plate, staring at Chuuya and Yuan, sitting on another table, laughing about something.
"Do you like Yuan that much?" Higuchi asked from his side, and Dazai felt like slapping her. "Yes Higuchi. I'm so in love with Yuan, I want to kill her." Dazai said with a bright smile, and Kaaji gave him a weird look.
"Don't pay attention to it. Last week he told me he was in love with me." Sigm asaid, shaking his head, and Dazai rolled his eyes.
"I feel like it's suddenly cold." Yuan said from his side, and Chuuya shrugged. It was a bit chilly, but that was probably because the year was about to come to an end. "Hey, I'm having a birthday party, and I was wondering if you wanted to come?" Yuan called from his side, a little smile on her face.
Chuuya wasn't stupid. He knew what she was doing. And he also knew that he didn't like her in that way.
But what was he supposed to say?
'Hey, sorry I don't like you back. I don't like anything like that because I'm in love with someone who hates me and doesn't talk to me anymore? Hope you understand.'
Fucking no. He did laugh a little bit though. "I'll try, Yuan. I have basketball practice and all, so I might not be able to make it." He said with a shrug.
She looked a little disappointed, but smile anyway. "Oh. Ok! I really love watching you play basketball." She said, giggling.
"Hey, if you lovebirds are done, can I steal your man for a second?" Fyodor called out from behind Chuuya, and Chuuya stuck out his tongue at him. "We're not dating." He said, rolling his eyes, and from across the room, he could hear Dazai laugh at something Tachihara was saying.
"Right. The principal has chosen Italy and Paris for the two presentation we have to do. We can't do all of them, so it's just those. We need to start working on them." Fyodor said, and Chuuya's stomach sank.
"What? I have to work with that fucking asshole?" He sighed. Fyodor shrugged again. "C'mon, we have a free period next. Let's figure out the basic right now." He said, beckoning Chuuya to where Nikolai, Akutagawa and Dazai were.
Chuuya flashed Yuan an apologetic smile.
And then he went to his personal hell. Oh joy.
"Chuu-chuu! I thought you would never come." Nikolai said, waving at him as Chuuya approached. Chuuya laughed. "Ah, I've been busy. Basketball and all the work that piled up."
'I've also been throwing up every night because the nightmares have resurfaced, you can thank your boyfriend's brother for that.'
"Ok, so we have 2 weeks until we have to present. 14 days should be more than enough." Akutagawa said from Dazai's side, and Chuuya was still successful in avoiding Dazai's eyes.
Only 14 more days to go.
"How about we do it at my house?" He heard Dazai's voice say, and Chuuya had to resist the urge to look at him. Fuck, even his voice was driving him crazy.
"Works with me." Fyodor said, while Nikolai nodded.
"Great. And you, Chuuya?" Dazai asked, and Chuuya lifted his eyes to meet his brown ones. They seemed to relax as Chuuya looked at him, and his face seemed to have a little smile on it. "Sure." He replied blandly, and thankfully the bell rang.
He didn't want to waste his time on Dazai. God, he'd barely known the man for 7 months, it wasn't possible to fall in love with someone like this. And he had Yuan, someone who would most definitely not scream at him.
'He still smiled at you, even after knowing what you did.' His mind said to him, and Chuuya wanted to scream again. But Dazai didn't want to be anything with him. Was it because of his past? Was he just being nice to ease away at the guilt?
Did he even feel guilt?
Chuuya's head snapped up, and he looked around the room. "Hey, uh what period is this?" He asked the boy on his left, who gave him a confused look. "It's the 7th period."
Fuck, he was dissociating again. No fuck, he can't let Ane-san find out. She'd flip and he'd have to be on medication again. And as long as it didn't hurt anyone, he was gonna be fine, right?
Well, unless he was walking in a road and there was no Fyodor to save him.
Chuuya buried his face in his arms, swearing to himself to not think about Dazai or his past unless he was in bed. Any more of this was going to get him killed, and unlike most people, he wasn't suicidal.
Dazai like coffee, yes.
Everyone usually liked coffee. It kinda made you alive, if that makes sense. "It's an important factor in the contribution of air pollution." his geo teacher, aka his principal was saying.
Dazai didn't know what they were talking about. He was thinking about coffee, anything really, to keep his mind occupied.
He hadn't eaten octopus in so long, maybe he should tell Oda to make it. It would be a nice change from the normal seafood he liked eating, which was crab. Crab was good ok, it was life. Man why couldn't he be a crab?
He would have nothing to worry about.
Even now, he should be worrying about girls and homework and shit, but here he was, worrying about how to piss off Mori, and make sure he didn't harm Chuuya. Maybe he should've never come to this school. He shouldn't have gone to that party, and he most definitely should not have made out with a drunken redhead.
It wasn't that messed up, to anyone else it would be something to be taken lightly. It could be taken lightly, but Dazai was known to calculating. He needed to know all the possibilities that could happen, and have a plan for all of them.
Best case? Mori was bluffing and he didn't care about Dazai's love life. Or that Nikolai wouldn't tell Mori if Dazai and Chuuya became something.
Worst case? Mori would put Chuuya's father under bankruptcy, they would have to ask Mori for money, he would make sure they were under so much debt that they were dared to cross him, and Dazai would lose someone else who was precious to him.
Hell, this was tiring. He should just jump off a cliff and let Fedya handle Mori. God knows he would be better at it.
Fyodor, somehow had found someone who wasn't scared of Mori, and likewise, Mori had decided that the two of them weren't a threat to him. Although, if Dazai could make him change his mind about that, he might have a way out of his rabbit role.
The bell rang and Dazai jumped. Shit, he'd zoned out.
Damn it, he really needed a coffee.
