Kouyou was screaming at Chuuya for being late to school on his last year of highschool
Now don't get him wrong, he loved Kouyou but she was a huge stickler for rules. And Chuuya was someone who excelled at breaking them.
"Yes, Ane-san. I know I made you worry because I left for 2 days. I'm really sorry but Higuchi and Gin were sick and Akutagawa couldn't take care of them properly by himself. And my phone's charger doesn't work there since it had a different adapter." Chuuya explained, for the millionth time.
This was all, of course, total bullshit.
Akuatagawa would be more than capable of taking care of sick people. The kid may look like he was dying but he was surprisingly good with kids and stuff like that.
And Chuuya, on the other hand, had passed out for the entire day after the party.
Later, when he woke up, he saw that his cell phone which was at 2% battery had 49 missed calls from Ane-san and about 123 texts.
He has also learned that in the middle of a dare, he'd chugged down about 3 bottles of booze. Explains the headaches.
Chuuya finished up the breakfast Kouyou had made for him, and turned to leave the house. "Thanks, Ane-san. See you after school." He said while Kouyou grumbled something about kids being ungrateful while she waved him off.
Walking to school, he met some of the people he was aquatinted with. He wouldn't call them friends, because well......they weren't friends.
Chuuya waved to Akuatagwa who was waiting for him along with Gin and Higuchi.
"Hey." Chuuya said as he walked up to them, earning a nod from Akutagawa, a small hello from Gin and a loud good morning from Higuchi.
"Man. I heard that there are a couple of new kids coming to school this time." Higuchi exclaimed as she ranted off about something to Akutagawa who looked the least bit interested in whatever the blonde girl was saying.
Gin walked behind them, and Chuuya had to resist the urge to not visibly cringe at them. It was pretty obvious that Higuchi had a crush on Akutagawa. It was always pretty obvious that Akutagawa had no interest whatsoever in women. Or like humans in general. Maybe he was some other species that accidently landed on earth.
Chuuya shook his head as he walked with Gin, making small talk.
When they neared the school gate, Chuuya saw a banner saying 'Welcome new students to Yokohoma High! Pick your buddy guide here!'
Another fight between Chuuya and his urge to cringe took place.
Before the holidays, their school had made everyone give their names for a buddy guide system, since lots of new people were coming. Which, seemed pretty dumb because why would people switch in their last years of highschool?
Anyway, the people who had given their names were given a chance to get extra credit, which was going to look amazing on Chuuya's college resume.
He looked at a couple of people standing there, a kid with white hair standing out the most. He also seemed to have caught Akutagawa's eyes, because Chuuya could practically feel the emo boy checking him out. Alright so maybe the emo did feel attraction.
Chuuya smiled a little, until the vice principal, Mr. Hirotsu called out his name.
"Ah, Mr Nakahara. Perfect timing. This is your buddy for the rest of the highschool." Chuuya looked at his buddy. And it unfortunately was not the white-haired kid.
Instead it looked like some dude who's just gotten out of the hospital with that many bandages on his face and the body.
"Oh uh-" Chuuya said, kinda unsure of what to say. "Nice to meet you. My name is Nakahara Chuuya."
The kid looked a little surprised when he looked at Chuuya, his eyes widening a bit.
"Oh uh yeah. I'm Dazai Osamu." He said, reaching out his hand to shake Chuuya's hand.
Chuuya shook his hand, feeling a strong urge that he knew that voice from somewhere. But he couldn't quite place his finger on it.
"Perfect, now Akutagawa, your buddy partner is that White haired kid, Atsushi Nakajima." Chuuya didn't bother to hear the rest of the conversation as he looked at Dazai once more.
"Do you want me to give you a tour of the school before school starts?" He asked, while Dazai slightly shurgged his shoulders. "Sure why not."
Maybe this year wasn't going to be that bad.
This year was off to a shit start.
First of all, apparently Ango and Odasaku had a fight late in the night. Dazai was probably asleep since he didn't hear any shouting, but he could make out something was wrong the moment he walked into the kitchen.
The atmosphere felt like someone had laid a blanket of lead over them, and it made Dazai feel uncomfortable. He didn't bother trying to ease the atmosphere because it wasn't his love life.
So he just ate and said a quick bye to them, and then he left for school.
Dazai was hard-set on making this school better than the last one he'd been to. That school had been ridiculous, with ungodly amounts of homework and a reputation of drugs and fights that probably made up about 10% of the entire country's illegal shit.
His walk was relatively nice, but when he reached school that's when his day got worse.
He came across someone he wished he could avoid for the rest of his life. A kid who looked a lot like his legal guardian. Someone Dazai preferred not to think about.
"Oh, if it isn't the famous Demon prodigy." Fyodor's voice said, making Dazai get an urge to smack the boy's head so hard his head would roll off the shoulders.
Instead, what he said was "Oh look. It's the king of rats~ How lovely to see you again, dear brother." The words tasted like acid in his mouth, but Dazai knew that Fyodor hated being called his brother, as much as he despised him.
"This is going to be a fun year, Osamu." Fyodor smiled his creepy smile, making Dazai roll his eyes.
How did that bitch pop up where Dazai went? Did Mori send him? Nah- as much as Dazai dislikes Fyodor, he knew that Fyodor hated Mori more than anything.
He walked away, without looking back.
And then when he reached the school gates, he was introduced with the system of buddy guides. Something to help make friends of shit like that, and Dazai did not feel like making any more conversation with normal people, so he tried to get past everyone, but a white-haired kid tripped on Dazai, making them both fall down.
"Ah! I'm so sorry I didn't see where I was going." The white-haired kid apologized, and Dazai wasn't even that hurt.
"It's ok. I wasn't hurt so you don't need to keep on apologizing like that." Dazai laughed as he got up.
"I'm Atsushi Nakajima." The kid said, looking at Dazai with his multicolored eyes.
"Dazai Osamu." Dazai said he walked towards the gate, only to be met with someone else's voice.
"Ah, Mr Nakahara. Perfect timing. This is your buddy for the rest of the highschool." A hand was on Dazai's shoulder, as he looked up to see some old dude talking to a redhead.
Wait- Oh holy fuck no this was not happening please god no-
The redhead turned, the same ocean blue eyes making Dazai's stomach drop a little, and making him feel a little excited.
This was the dude he'd kissed.
