Rias Gremory POV
"And there he goes..." Akeno and I watched as Issei left the club room after turning down my offer. I found myself staring at him until I couldn't see his figure anymore.
"President, if you don't mind me asking, what was this deal you two made?"
"Oh, that? Him and I just made a contract last night, that's all. In exchange for me not interfering with his battle against some fallen angels, I wouldn't forcibly make him a part of my peerage."
"Is that so? But, you spoke of something else he bargained for."
My mood turned sour from the memory of what his other deal was. Riser...I'd rather not think about him if I could.
"He's dangerous, Akeno. He knows much more than your average human should know of the supernatural." I tried to change the topic by addressing Issei once more. I needed to let the rest of my members know about him.
"How much does he know?"
"Enough to try and strike a bargain with me where he apparently, "benefits the most" from our deal." I still remember how confident he seemed when he summoned me.
"Oh my. So he managed to strike a deal with you? It's not every day someone manages to summon you, and get a deal out of it."
"Well, truth be told, I only accepted his deal because it seemed interesting."
"Interesting?" I could tell she was confused by what I meant. While I wasn't too particularly happy to talk about Riser...Akeno is my queen. My most trusted ally and childhood friend. I should be able to talk to her about it.
"His conditions were that I wasn't to interfere with his fight against the fallen angels, and that I wasn't able to forcibly make him a member of my peerage. In exchange, he would take care of that group...along with Riser."
"He knows of Lord Riser?"
"Yes. Devils as well, along with who owns the territory of Kuoh..." Information like that isn't easy to come by. And last time I checked, we haven't had anyone going around talking about my affairs like that...
"As for how he came across that information, I'm unsure...but doesn't that kind of deal make you excited?"
"You felt excited about it?"
"Yes. It's not every day you come across a human brave enough to try and dupe a devil. I agreed to his contract on a whim. And what do you know? It almost worked out better for me than it did for him."
"And how is that?"
"Simple really. I learned more about him." I had placed my teacup down onto its small saucer before standing up from the couch and walking across towards my desk, Akeno following closeby.
"Are you saying learning more about him was more valuable than whatever he obtained from fighting the fallen angels?"
"Of course. All he gained from that fight was saving his friend. Whereas I learned about his strength. It sounds strange at first, but a human being capable of fighting off fallen angels? It sounds impossible, correct?"
"Yes. We both know how fragile humans can be at times..."
"Yet he somehow came back alive, and even claims that he won his fight against them. Now, what kind of human would be able to boast about doing that?"
"...Someone with a powerful sacred gear perhaps?"
"Exactly. He tried to be secretive and hide his abilities, but he's gone and done the opposite. Not only that, but his deal states that I can't "force him" into my peerage. It didn't say anything about me coercing him."
