Lovely Complex is about a girl named Risa Koizumi who is 170cm tall and a boy named Atsushi Otani who is 156cm tall. They always argue, fight, and tease each other. Because of their teacher they always end up sitting next to each other and being called the "All Hanshin Kyojin". They are the comedy duo in their class because they like to tease each other and always do everything together even though they are most likely enemies which makes them very funny when they are together because of the height difference. So one day during the entrance ceremony Risa was sleeping while snoring because she was up all night playing video games. But when she woke up she accidentally yelled out "DAMN IT MY SUMMON MONSTERS HAVE BEEN ANNIHILATED!" Then everyone started laughing during the ceremony but because of that she had to go to summer classes. So when she went to summer class again she saw Otani. .-. When everyone sat down a boy named Suzuki came in. Risa was in love. Otani made a deal with Risa if Risa gets her friend, Chiharu Tanaka to go out with him then he will get Suzuki to go out with her. So as results of their efforts Chiharu and Suzuki went out with each other instead. Risa sooned realized her one true love.
