Kyoukai no Kanata is about a boy named Akihito Kanbara. Although the Akihito looks human, he is half youmu and immortal to wounds because he can heal quickly but he can still feel pain. Youmus are creatures much like demons. One day, Akihito meets freshman Mirai Kuriyama when it seems she is about to jump from the school rooftop and commit suidice. Mirai is a lone because of her ability to manipulate her blood into a sword or weapon, which is very rare. Disturbing events begin to unfold after Akihito saves Mirai.
