Although the rain falling now and his wet clothes should have made him feel cold and uneasy, the soft and continues rhythm of Ron's breathing as he slept brought Negan quite the opposite feelings.
He looked at the boy, his lungs moving with each breath. Walkers didn't breath, he had noticed sometime ago, all but confirming they most certainly weren't living. Well, not in the traditional sense anyway. They had to be alive in some way, right?
The brain was all that kept them going, a few scientists had said. That much was obvious in their deaths though. The infection had done something to Ron's mind just as it did with the dead. That was apparent from his headaches.
"What are you doing?" Ron asked, seeing Negan just watching him.
"Nothing. I got lost in thought I guess." Negan replied, not even noticing he had been staring at him."Oh. Thinking about what?" Ron said, sitting up.
"Walkers. I guess. Carl wants to talk to you by the way." Negan said, changing the topic.
"I knew he would. He's always worried." Ron said softly.
"Hmm. I wonder why." Negan said with a smile.
"I'll talk to him." Ron said, smiling as well.He went to the porch, taking his radio with him.
"Carl? Are you there?" He asked.
"Ron? Where are you?" Carl replied, clearly having been waiting to hear from him.
"Can you meet me? So we can talk?" Ron said, not wanting to give away Negans location.
"Of course. Where can you meet?" Carl said softly."Um, the carousel? The one Enid found. Does that work?" Ron said, hoping Carl could come.
"Yeah. I'll be there. I love you." Carl said, already heading out the door.
"I love you too." Ron said sincerely. He opened the door, going back inside.
"I'm going to meet with Carl. Stay here. And don't let anyone in. Or see you." Ron said, feeling the need to tell Negan basic safety procedures."You got it kid." Negan said, looking through the things Ron had brought.
"Ok. Bye. Be careful." Ron said, hesitant to leave him alone.
"You too." Negan said, giving him a hug.—
Ron sat on one of the horse statues, watching the rain fall from the roof of the old ride.
A few walkers came out of the woods, crowding around him like he was their favorite celebrity.
"Fuck off." He demanded, pushing one away from himself. He saw Carl approaching from the edge of the forest.
He quickly killed the walkers surrounding him, making sure they wouldn't get close to Carl.
"Hey." Carl said, stepping up onto the platform."Hey. They just show up. Sorry." Ron said, wiping the blood of his hand.
"It's ok. It's not your fault." Carl said, shivering from the cold and the rain.
