"Okay, all I did was leave school early, what's the big deal?" I asked, exasperated. We were sitting on the couch, and it turns out my parents flight landed this morning, and I forgot. Of course I didn't tell them that I forgot, but that's beside the point.

"The big deal, sweetie is that we don't know what's going on. You didn't just leave early, the teachers said you didn't attend any of your classes today. Even worse is that not only did you do it behind our back, but you also did it behind your brother's. He dropped you off and left and he said you were fine. We even called Vivianne and she said that she didn't know what was going on." My mother said, her lips in a line. She had brown hair like me, but hers was shoulder length. She also has brown eyes. My dad has greying black hair and brown eyes as well. He looked disappointed, but my mother just looked sad.

"Raymond told us what happened with Callum, and the new group you've been a part of recently." My dad says, staring right at me in a way that would make any other person sprint to the other side of the city, but I live with it, so I've gotten used to it.

"What about it?" I asked. "There's nothing left to take care of. I'm fine, and the group I've been 'hanging out with recently' is amazing, and quite literally the only people outside of this family to talk to me like their equal or their friend. I'm fine!"

"That's not it, Luna." My mother says quietly. "We spoke to your principle. He said that your grades are dropping."

I scoffed. "So I'm getting B's instead of A+'s, what's the big deal? It's still a good mark." I'm getting so tired of this conversation. Absolutely nothing is wrong with me!

"We also know that you're dating someone." My mum says, rubbing her temples. I am not dating anyone!

"That's not true, mum." I said. "You really think I wouldn't tell you if I had a boyfriend?!" I rolled my eyes when they didn't reply. "Wow." I mumble.

"This boy, his name is Vegas?" My dad asked. My eyes may have shot out of my head.

"No! His name is Columbus and he's just my friend, dad." There's one thing I've realised with Vegas' name-changing. I'm the only person who calls him Vegas. He tells everyone else to call him Columbus.

My dad furrows his eyebrows. "We're grounding you for a week." He said. I gaped.

"I did nothing wrong!"

"You skipped school." He said.

"But that was only because-" I stopped myself, but it was too late.

"Because what?" My mum said, raising her eyebrows.

"Because... I had this paper to write and it was due in today and I couldn't finish it last night, so I had to do it today and hand it in tomorrow." Great. I deserve the punishment now.

My parents considered this for a bit, before agreeing to ground me for three days instead of a week. I let out a sigh of relief. That's just the weekend and Monday. "Don't get too happy." My dad grumbles. "We want to meet these friends of yours, including the one your brother keeps saying that you like."

I didn't even register at the time that my dad just said I liked Vegas, because my heart sank when he said he wanted to meet them. One look at my friends and my parents will judge them. Vegas has a lip piercing, Angelo has dyed his hair, and Sadie has also dyed her hair and wears ripped jeans and tank tops all the time. Not to mention the guys wear skinny jeans as well. I think all of their choices with how they look is absolutely fine and Sadie does pull of ripped clothes but my parents... they won't think so. My parents are nice and caring but can be really judgemental.

"Okay." I say nervously. "When should I invite them?"

"Tomorrow night, for dinner, perhaps?" My mum says it like I have a choice.
