25. First Steps

Libbie POV

As daylight breaks through our bedroom curtains we are happily cocooned in each other embrace.

Damian sat with his back against the head board and I sat between his legs, my back resting against his chest encased in his strong arms.

As I smile softly to myself he plays with my fingers while his lips softly kiss along my shoulder.

"Can I ask you something?" He asks as his arms tighten around me

"Of course" I smile wrapping my arms over his

"Last night......when we made love........did it feel different to you?" He asks

"Yes it did but at the same time it felt like you were making love to me for the very first time" I say "I can't explain it"

"That's what I felt" he sighs "I thought I was going crazy, it all just felt so.....so....."

"New?" I say cutting him off

"Yeah exactly" he says "If it's possible I think we fell in love with each other all over again"

For a moment we go silent, lost in our little bubble of love and happiness. His lips return to softly kissing along my shoulder as my fingertips trace over the tattoos on his arms.

"You ready to make that call?" He says quietly

"Yeah I'll go do it now" I say moving to get out of bed

"No no, we are doing this together so I see no reason why you can't make the call right here in my arms" he says kissing my cheek

"Alright but behave yourself, I will need to focus" I chuckle

"I always behave" he mumbles as he goes back to kissing my shoulder

Smiling I grab my phone and dial the number for the agency. Within a few rings Sally has answered the call and to our suprise she says she can arrange a meeting for today with Lillianne.

"What do you think?" I ask placing the call on hold

"Let's do it, this is the first steps mi amour, let's not waste this chance" he says causing me to beam at him

"Hi Sally, we'd be happy to meet her today just tell us where and when" I smile

It's seemed liked moments later that we were dressed, ready and out of the door to meet the woman who would potentially carry our child for us. With every step towards the cafe I grew more nervous and more apprehensive.

Sensing my nerves Damian gives my hand a gentle squeeze before lifting it to his lips and kissing the back of it. When I look he smiles lovingly at me and somehow I relax a little.

"It's going to be alright mi amor" he soothes

Walking into the cafe I glance around before my eyes land on a very pretty young woman who is smiling at us.

"Damian and Liberty right?" She asks as we approach and we both nod "Hi I'm Lillianne it's lovely to meet you both"

"It's nice to meet you too" I smile

"So why don't we take a seat and we can start with any questions you want to ask me" she says guiding us to sit down "and don't worry nothing is off limits"

"How long have you been doing this for people?" Damian asks

"Ten years and in that time I've helped eight couples like yourselves become parents" she smiles "I have a clean bill of health, and I'm happy for you to be as involved as you want, I even moved in with one family so that they could experience the pregnancy in someway"

"Have you ever wanted to keep the baby you were carrying?" I ask nervously

"Never, If I ever felt like that, that would be the day I stop" she says "I want to help people have families, the feeling when you see a couple smiling down at their baby knowing you gave them that.......there is nothing like it"

"So what are the next steps?" Damian asks "if we were to choose you?"

"Well since I would be a gestational carrier for you, once the embryo is ready it would be implanted into me and then we wait to see if it takes" she says "please know that I will try as many times as you want to, there is no limit"

"What do think mi amor?" Damian asks looking at me

"I think.........I think I'd like to have Lillianne as our surrogate" I smile

"Yeah me too" he smiles

"Wonderful" she smiles "the agency will send you all the paperwork and I will see you when it's time. I really hope I can bring you the same happiness as I did the other families. One quick question......in terms of arrangements would you want me to stay with you during the pregnancy or are you happy to just have regular meet ups?"

"I'd like to experience as much of it as I can, so if Damian is ok with it then I'd like you to stay with us" I say nervously looking at Damian

"I'm more than OK with that" he smiles kissing my temple "I know how much the experience means to you"

"Great, I'm excited to do this for you" she smiles "we can sort out the details once we know there is a successful pregnancy, I will see you both real soon"

I watch her leave before turning to look at Damian who is gazing lovingly at me. He leans forward and gently kisses my lips.

"How are you feeling?" He asks

"Nervous but excited" I say "what about you?"

"Same" he smiles "so what do we do now?"

"Now I need to call my doctor and get an appointment to get the process started" she says "of course you will need to provide your contribution" I smile

"Hmm and I'm sure you can help me sort that out" he smirks pressing another kiss to my lips

"Oh I'm sure I could" I say
