28. Not Alone

Damian POV

Pulling up outside the house I couldn't wait to get inside, take Libbie in my arms and hold her close. I had missed her terribly while I'd been on the road, I had never known being away from some one could be so hard.

Stepping out of the car the first thing I notice is a third and fourth car on the drive, on closer inspection I realise that one is Delilah's car and the other is Cal's. I instantly feel my blood boil as I clench my fists, who the fuck does he think he is coming to our home.

Pushing open the door I'm greeted by Delilah coming down the stairs looking somewhat relived to see me.

"Where is he? I saw his car outside" I growl as she places her hands on my chest to stop me going any further

"He's long gone, he left in the back of a cop car last night that's why his car is still there" she says "I've arranged for it to be towed"

"Why were the cops here? What has he done? Is libby alright?" I ask panicking slightly "I swear if he's hurt her"

"Easy big man" she says "he showed up here trying to convince her that you had paid Dr Chalinor to lie about your test results and that you were in fact infertile and the embryos were not yours" she says "I meanwhile had finally found the proof I'd been after that he had caused her accident and her father's death, I came straight here to tell her and found him here, I'd called the cops on the way, they showed up shortly after, he confessed and they took him away"

"God damn son of a bitch" I say throwing my bag down "where is she? How is she?" I ask

"She cried herself to sleep last night and then woke up this morning and started all over again" she sighs "this has really hurt her, she really needs you right now"

"Thankyou for looking after her, I'll go see her" I say heading to the stairs before stopping in my tracks "wait......" I say turning back to face her "did you say embryos? We were successful?" I ask and she just smiles and nods as she heads out of the house.

I take the stairs two at a time desperate to see Libbie and hold her in my arms. I couldn't kill that asshole for what he's done to her, she didn't deserve any of this.

"Mi amor" I say softly as I push open the door

"Damian" she cries as she sits up and holds her arms out to me.

I move over to her quickly and take her in my arms, the second her face touches my chest she starts crying again. I hold her close as the sobs shake her body gently stroking her hair in an attempt to soothe her.

"I'm so glad you're back" she says "I've never felt so alone in my life, he was there for me when my dad died and when my mom died. After that he was all I had and now I have no one"

"Look at me mi amor" I say moving her back from me "that's not true, you're not alone. You have me and soon there will be little feet running around here. You will never be alone becuase I am never going to leave you"

"You promise" she says looking into my eyes

"I promise" I say kissing her forehead "I put that ring on your finger because I want you forever and I won't take anything less"

"Tell me you love me......I need to hear it" she says snuggling into me

"I love you nightingale" I say softly "so much more than you know"

As I hold her close she looks down at her hand and plays with her ring, now and again the light from the bedroom lamp catches it and it sparkles as she twidles it round her finger.

"What time is it?" She asks suddenly

"It's 8pm mi amor. Why are you hungry?" I ask

"Then it's not too late, we still have time" she mutters "I mean there's no reason not to right? There's no need to wait?" She says standing and taking my hands in hers "let's do it, let's go right now and do it"

"Do what mi amor?" I ask a little confused "I'm not sure what you mean or what your talking about"

"I'm talking about getting married" she says smiling for the first time "we could go right know to one of the little chapels and do it. I mean we don't need to wait, it could just be the two of us"

"Woah alright look........you've had a pretty big shock, a lot to take in and you are very upset. You aren't thinking clearly, so I think you need to get some sleep and we can discuss it in the morning" I say trying to get her to get back in to bed.

"No I'm thinking perfectly clearly" she says "I want us to go get married.......I want to be your wife"

"You really are serious aren't you" I say standing up and pulling her close to me "you really want to become Mrs Priest tonight don't you?" I ask and she looks up at me and nods her head

"I do" she smiles up at me "Damian Priest will you marry me tonight?" She asks

"Are you absolutely sure you want to do this?" I ask and she nods and I smile "then yes I will marry you tonight"

I watch as she hurriedly gets herself ready the huge smile never leaving her face for a second. Once she's ready she stands by the door and holds her hand out to me. I walk over and take her hand and we head out of the house together.

"You know Rhea is going to kill me when she finds out don't you" I chuckle as we get in the car

"She'll get over it" she laughs
