Zane held Nana as she slept, his hand resting over the scar on her chest.
"Four,,, I'm so sorry. I should have been able to save you"
Zane hates that Nana took the slash across the chest that was meant for him
Garroth was meant to hurt him not Nana
Zane's meds kick in at some point and he falls asleep, still holding onto his girlfriend
When he wakes up Nana isn't there and he starts freaking out
He puts his mask on and walks downstairs, hearing something in the kitchen
"Four? Where are you, love?"
"I'm in here Zane!"
Zane sees Nana poke her head out from the kitchen, a warm smile on her face
Zane walks over to her and pulls down his mask for a second to kiss Nana on the cheek
He follows Nana into the kitchen but freezes when he sees Garroth, a knife in his hand
Memories come flooding back, the emotional pain of not being able to keep Nana safe, Garroth attacking him, and then the physical pain of being stabbed and having his chest slashed through
"Seven,,,?"
Zane's voice is broken and it takes a second for them to realize what's wrong.
Garroth immediately drops the knife and Nana cups Zane's face in her hands
"Zane it's okay! Garroth was just helping me cook, he won't hurt us! I promise"
Zane placed his hand on Nanas and glanced behind her at Garroth
"Oh my Irene baby brother. I'm so sorry. I was just helping Kawaii-Chan cook! Look at my eyes, they're blue, see?"
Zane looked into Garroth's eyes and sighed
"I'm,,, sorry. I just don't like seeing,,, you,,, with a knife when I didn't even know you were in my house"
Nana pulls away from Zane and walks over to the counter
"It's fine Zane, I don't really like seeing you with sticks either"
Zane rolls his eyes and walks over to Garroth punching him lightly in the arm, trying to ignore how he was still panicked.
He was thinking about all the ways he'd be able to save Nana this time instead of letting his brother hurt her
"But seriously Zane, I'm sorry. I forgot that it could bring back memories. Is it okay if I continue helping Kawaii-Chan? If you don't want me to it's fine, this is your house"
"It's fine seven, you can continue. I'm sorry I shouldn't have reacted like that"
Garroth was about to say something else to Zane but was cut off by Nana suddenly appearing between the two brothers, making them bock take a step back
"We made cupcakes earlier! They've been cooling off and they should be ready to eat!"
Nana held up a pink cupcake
"look, it's a pinkie cake cupcake!"
Zane smiled and took the cupcake, pulling his mask down.
Before taking a bite he leaned down and kissed Nana on the forehead
"You are making me sad I'm single again"
They all laughed as Garroth used his fake sad voice
"You have Eight, Seven"
