As we return to our table, I discover that the discussion has again returned to Marcus's feats last night. The blonde male defends himself, "Weren't you the one cheering Collen on?? You even said, 'Go get some juicy ass!', remember??" His remark prompts the dark-chocolate-skinned hunter to snort, and his partner beside him to snicker.
Gwen's face turns beetroot-red and she glances up at us while Logan and I just observe our friends with furrowed brows. All of a sudden, however, the silver-haired male narrows his eyes as he addresses the huntress, "You did encourage him." His tone comes across a good deal more aggressive than I envision he intended.
Even I get astonished by the transformation in his demeanor as he almost glares at our female friend. "B-But it's alright!", I intervene, giving Logan's arm a soft squeeze. "C'mon, guys, the night's gone. Just forget about it." I attempt to dispel the choking ambiance before gesturing at Marcus, "Just take care going forward."
The male hastily lifts his hands in surrender, "If this is the response I'm gonna receive anytime I hook up with a human lady, I would keep away from their entire species!" Gwen softly huffs, but then nods, giving in as well. George flashes me a grateful smile as if exhibiting his appreciation for saving him from this awkward discussion.
From my peripheral vision, I notice my partner reclaiming his seat next to the female brunette. My eyes instantly dart toward the two and I watch as Gwen hands Logan his coffee. Inwardly sighing in defeat, I retake my seat beside Marcus as well.
Jade holds the door wide open for us as we step out one after the other. "Jade!", George gasps while staring at his wristwatch. Promptly, he exhibits the display to his raven-haired partner, "We're going to be delayed for the movies!" With that, he grabs the male's arm and practically starts dragging him to his car, which is a comical sight considering the massive gap in height between George and Jade.
"You're gonna watch movies?", Marcus, who walks beside me, tilts his head.
"Yeah! It's Saturday and we all decided that we're not taking any commissions, right? So I intend to spend the entire day with Jade!", the younger male beams with a smile as he answers. His partner clears his throat, averting his gaze while his dark cheeks slightly ting with redness.
"Hah!", the blonde chuckles, "So this is the price of having a lively hunting partner, eh Jade? He bores you with those cringy human entertainments?"
Jade merely shrugs, "I don't mind.", and pulls out his car keys, unlocking his car.
"Wow...", Marcus blinks, and even I can comprehend his astonishment. Even though Jade is not as stringent as Logan, he still doesn't appear as somebody who would visit theatres with popcorn and watch movies. Shaking his head, our friend watches the duo enter Jade's car before turning around, "Gwen, you're allowing your brother to— Huh?"
"Hmm?", I furrow my brows when he halts his question, and look in the vicinity where his sight is fixed. Apparently, only we four have walked away from the café and toward the parking lot, for Logan and Gwen have stayed near the main door, immersed in a conversation.
"What are they talking about?", the hunter voices my thought. As I inspect the duet, I notice how they present somber looks on their face. Whatever they are discussing, it must hold significant importance and require to be undertaken in a touch of secrecy. I immediately recollect how Logan claimed that he would speak to Gwen about her kissing him, and I subconsciously chew on my lower lip.
The female brunette rubs her forehead in what feels like slight annoyance or dissatisfaction. My partner lowers his head momentarily before shoving his hands into his pocket and stepping away from her. His lips move as he says something that doesn't reach us from this distance. The huntress shakes her head and waves her hand dismissively.
