Entering the living room, I approach the silver-haired male seated on the couch and straddle him. As I wrap my arms around him and rest my forehead on his shoulder, he entangles his digits in my hair. "I'm back to normal now, Collen.", Logan assures me, his tone is one of comfort and tenderness as he presses a kiss to my temple with a soft smile. "You don't need to be concerned."
Chewing my lower lip, I pull back to face him. The look in my eyes wipes the smile off the male's face. "Collen...", his tone carries a mixture of warning and complaint but that doesn't deter me from voicing what has been occupying my thoughts all day. The incidents from the previous day have been weighing heavily on my mind.
"Logan, listen to me. We have the evidence.", I start and the male exhales heavily, averting his head. Refusing to take the hint, I persist, "You can file a complaint against her. She's clearly in the wrong on multiple levels!"
"Collen... Please.", the male groans, covering his eyes with his hand. My gaze remains uncompromising as he rubs them before pinching the bridge of his nose. "I just wish to distance myself from all of it."
Taking hold of his wrist, I pull it away to meet his tired gaze, "But, Logan, what if you're not the only one who went through this?" My words make him flinch and the way his eyes darken tells me that I have succeeded in hitting on a nerve. Sliding my hand up his palm and curling my fingers around his, I press on, "What if there are more hunters she's exploiting? Violating them?"
Clenching his jaw, Logan shakes his head, "And what if...they don't perceive it as a violation?"
"Huh?", my brows knit together, displaying my confusion.
With a heavy exhale, he provides an explanation, "I shared Marcus's perspective on this to you. He wouldn't have raised an issue if our roles were reversed."
"Marcus is an idiot!", I can't help but burst out in a loud voice, enraged at the circumstances that led my love to feel this way. My outburst, however, seems to amuse the hunter, who wears a weak smile, patting my head. I instantly lean into his touch, taking in a long breath through my nose to calm down my feelings.
His palm glides down to my face, cupping my cheek. I let out a shaky breath at the warmth radiating from his skin. As I relish his touch, I mutter, "Marcus is a striking hunter. Blond hair that's always impeccably styled, a smile that lights up his eyes, not to mention skills that many in our rank lack." Logan raises an eyebrow at me and I carry on, "There's an undeniable charm about him. Will you be with him the way we are?"
"What?", the male scrunches his nose up, taken aback by my question. "Of course not!", he quickly denies without hesitation or leaving any room for misunderstanding.
"Well, then would you be fine if he did this?", I ask before placing my lips against his. Logan instinctively kisses me back, his tongue swirling passionately with mine. I feel a rush of excitement sweep through me but I manage to pull back and await his reply.
The hunter responds with a sharp, "No, I won't.", his eyes narrowed down, as if it's the most obvious answer. Which it is.
"But you're attracted to men, right?", I point out, prompting his brows to shoot up. The male's facial expression changes as my question causes the pieces to fall into place for him. Nodding in agreement with the conclusion he's reached, I voice it out, "Just because someone is heterosexual doesn't mean they won't feel violated if touched by someone without their consent."
Sighing, Logan closes his eyes and leans his head back against the backrest. I slowly reach up and deliver rhythmic squeezes to his shoulders. "She won't face repercussions until I reveal what she subjected me to...", he utters and I hum along. With another heavy exhale, he adds, "A hunter inadequate to protect even himself... My reputation will be forever tarnished."
