"I'm so sorry she's done this to you," Axel crouched down and pulled me into his lap, stroking the back of my head. I buried my face into his collar and inhaled his scent, instantly feeling my tension ease.

"She killed it," I mumbled, turning to look up at him, then glancing at Wayne. They stared at me, concern and confusion clearly displayed across their features.

"She did it to kill my baby," I whispered, meeting Axel's gaze, then regretting my words. His heart visibly shattered and his hold around me loosened, his eyes darkening into a deep golden color.

"What?" He asked, sounding eerily calm, and I frowned at his change of eye color.

Why are his eyes the color of Marshmallow's? He looks like Calix now, despite a few minor differences.

What does that mean?

He suddenly pulled me up and approached Wayne, handing me off with a deadly glare directed at him, "watch her," he snapped, walking off before I could utter a single word.

"Where are you going?" Wayne called out, holding onto me anyway.

"To do something I should've done from the start," he snarled in reply, never slowing his walk.

Is he mad at me?

I tried to go after him but Wayne pulled me back, "his wolf is in full control, it'd be wise to leave him alone to cool off. When Dax is angry..." he trailed off and I glued my eyes onto Axel's back, "God, help whoever he's after."

"I have to calm him," I said, slipping free and running after him. Wayne yelled behind me yet I continued, seeing Axel disappear around the side of the building full of cells.

"Dax!" I called, rushing up to the building then coming to a stop after rounding the side and seeing nobody. Confusion consumed me until my eyes fell on cellar doors and goosebumps infected my body.

Something's telling me not to go down there.

But, I need to calm him down.

"Axel? Dax?" I asked, slowly taking steps toward the creepy doors after nobody responded.

I really shouldn't...

Taking a deep breath, I grabbed onto the handle and opened the door, walking down the steps when a woman unexpectedly screamed.

"You should be thanking me!"

I froze.

It was a voice I could never forget.

Slowly, I descended the stairs and hid in the shadow behind the wall, peeking past the doorway. I saw Axel towering over my mother, his eyes still piercing yellow as they danced with golden flames of fury.

"For you to have the fucking audacity to dare tell me I should thank you is the sickest fucking thing I've ever heard! You ruined her life, now I'm going to ruin the rest your pathetic," he paused, gripping her by the hair on the side of her head and lifting her off of the ground, "miserable," he added, and she grunted in pain, clawing at his arm, "worthless life," he spat, using his free hand to grab both of her wrists to stop her from scratching up his arm.

Loud snaps filled the room and I choked on my breath at the unexpected action, hearing her shriek as he forcefully threw her down.

She extended her arms to catch herself, forgetting about her now broken wrists until she landed on them and they gave out immediately with another loud pop. Her face hit the cracked concrete and she screamed out in agony.

My heart was beating rapidly and I couldn't pry away my gaze from her sobbing figure, waiting for the guilt and sadness to crash down on me at her pain, but it never came.
