The Sages often dreamed of the radiant Princess, and the Dragon made of Light that now circled the Temple of Time, far in the clouds.

Nobody else was there to witness it. Nobody else knew what was going to happen.

Zelda stood, shoulders squared and gaze fixed upon that sacred blade, at the Temple of Time. The Sages stood outside, waiting. They knew what was going to happen, and although she tried to say it was because of duty, they knew the real reason she wanted to go back to her era so terribly.

She was in love. With the knight she spoke so highly of to Sonia and Rauru. She was willing to do anything to get back to him. She knew the risks she was taking, that she might not ever see him again if she went through with it. But if she lived the rest of her life in the past, she wouldn't see him then, either. She was willing to risk it all for another glimpse of his face.

The Sages looked on at the Princess from the Future and the damaged sword she held. Zelda had been afraid all these months that Link hadn't made it at all, that he hadn't escaped their fall to the Depths. Yet when his sword appeared mere hours ago, she knew he was still alive. Something much stronger than love pulled the two of them together, and the sword seemed to know this.

Zelda had always been compared to light. She'd mentioned before how she had magic – a power to contain and destroy evil – yet it had gone away years ago for her, since the last time she used it. She described the power as a bright, peaceful light. Despite saying she had no more access to said power, many thought she had a shine to her; a light that seemed to follow her, that brightened up a room when she walked in. Even with all the tragedy she suffered, she was still somehow the happiest person in the room. Or, at least, that's how it seemed.

Zelda stood at the Temple of Time, the sword in front of her and a hand against the secret stone at her neckline. A construct came up to her, and she took out a device she was often seen with. After looking at something on it for a moment, she gave it to the construct, giving the being instructions. The machine dutifully turned back to the garden. After a deep breath and a swift tug, the secret stone was in her hand. The Sages held their breath.

When she swallowed the stone, the transformation was instant. Light shone from her skin as she reached the sword in her final moments. The Sages couldn't watch, half because it was brutal, what was happening to such a wonderful woman, and half because the glow that came from her could blind them if they looked right at it.

They assumed the explosion of light resembled the power Zelda used to seal away evil. It was peaceful, and beautiful, yet laced with so much tragedy. She was so powerful, it was striking.

The beast that immerged from the blinding light was just as beautiful as the girl lost within. As the light subsided and the dragon ascended into the sky, the Sages could barely make out the sword entwined in her golden mane, kept safe and enshrouded in light. The Dragon, flying toward the clouds, seemed to let out a final sob before roaring, mighty and determined. Yet tears streamed from her eyes, plummeting for the ground.

The Sages, the only ones that survived the Imprisoning War, told stories of the Princess that fell through time and the Light Dragon that flew through the clouds. They found the tears throughout the Kingdom, and discovered they were visions – clues she left behind. The drew murals that would show when the time was right, and people saw the visions. Some thought they were people could remember her, and the sacrifice she made for her Kingdom. But the Sages – the ones that got to know her in this Era – knew the visions were for Link. Clues for him to find, so he knew what happened to her.

They often dreamed of the radiant Princess, and the Dragon made of Light that now circled the Temple of Time, far in the clouds.
