The Next Day
Mika's POV:
I've been sick for a few days, and it hasn't been great. I mean, it was nice that Miles and my parents were all helping me to feel better, but just being stuck at home gets boring after some time. The other good thing is that my ankle was feeling a lot better, like I could actually walk on it again.
I am sad that I haven't been able to see Chapa because of my sickness, and I miss her so much. However, I was feeling much better today, so I could finally see her again. Eventually, Ray called all of us to gather in the Man's Nest immediately.
I seriously hope it's for something actually important, and not because he wants us to check out another one his hair care products. He's done that so many times, and I've been so tired of it. Anyway, Miles and I head to the Man's Nest as Chapa and Bose get there at the same time.
Miles: "What's up, everybody?"
Bose: "Hey, Miles, how've you been?"
Miles: "I've been good, and I'm glad we had yesterday off. I needed the extra sleep."
Chapa: "We all needed it. Hey, Mika, you feeling better already?"
Me: "Yeah, much better. Thank you so much for asking. My ankle is a lot better, too."
Bose: "I guess it didn't take the entire week to heal completely, so that's good."
Me: "Yeah, being stuck at home was starting to get boring. Being sick is the worse feeling ever."
Miles: "No question about that."
Chapa's POV:
I'm so happy that Mika is here with me, but only on the outside. Inside, I was worried about how to tell her that my family is moving out of Swellview. I didn't wanna think about it at the time, I just wanted to enjoy this moment with my beautiful girl. Just then, Ray came in.
Ray: "Hey, everyone, I'm glad you're all here, and Mika, welcome back."
Mika: *smiles* "Thanks, Ray."
Me: "So what's going on?"
Ray: "Well, there have been some reports that Drex is back in Swellview."
Bose: "Again? Is that dude ever gonna give up?"
Miles: "No chance, my guy."
Ray: "Anyway, it's been said that he's working undercover as an assistant to the Vice Mayor at City Hall, so we're gonna have to keep a close eye out for him until he's caught."
Me: "It ain't gonna be much of a challenge, though. That monster hand he has is pretty much gonna be a dead giveaway."
Bose: "I may not be the smartest one here, but I feel like he's gonna find a way to disguise that, too."
Me: "Yeah, so let's hope we can catch him before he causes any more damage to this city."
Ray: "Right, and now, gum time."
We all take out our gum holders.
Ray: "Now, let's blow a bubble, and end Drex's reign of trouble."
Me: "Nice one."
Ray: "Thanks."
We all blow a bubble, transforming into Danger Force.
AWOL: "Alright, everyone grab on."
We all grab on to AWOL as he teleports us to City Hall. Once there...
Captain Man: "Alright, now, there's no telling where Drex could be right now, so we're gonna have to split up. AWOL and Brainstorm, you two come with me. Shout-Out and Volt, you two guard the Vice Mayor's office and make sure he stays safe. Everyone got that?"
All: "Got it."
AWOL and Brainstorm follow Captain Man while me and Shout-Out head towards the Vice Mayor's office. When we get there, we stand in front of the door to make sure no intruders try to break in.
Mika's POV:
I hope we can catch Drex as soon as possible. That dude just doesn't know when to stop wreaking havoc on Swellview, but at least I get to spend this moment with my girl.
Me: "I hope we can catch Drex soon."
Volt: "Yeah, so do I."
Silence.
Volt: "Hey, there's um, something I need to say, and... I don't know how to put it."
Me: "What is it?"
Volt walks closer to me and we interlock hands with each other.
Volt: "First of all, I've really missed you."
Me: "I've missed you, too. I mean, it's been kinda nice to have some time off from crime-fighting, but I haven't been able to enjoy it without you."
Volt: "I've been sad about it, too, and... something came up at my house, and I was really hoping it wasn't true."
Me: "What happened?"
Volt: "Well, you see, my mom got this job as interior designer, and she starts in about a month."
Me: "Good for her."
Volt: "Yeah, but not really for me."
Me: "Why's that?"
Volt: "Well, there's no easy way, so I'm just gonna say it how it is: my family is moving."
I pause for a moment. I couldn't believe what I heard.
Me: "To where?"
Volt: "Florida."
Me: "Geez, that's really far away. Have you told them you don't wanna move?"
Volt: "I've tried, but all they said was that I immediately would forget all about the time I've had here after moving."
Me: "No offense, but your parents are really not being supportive of you."
Volt: "No, you're right. It's like I'm always the last person to find out about anything."
Me: "Have you told the others yet?"
Volt: "I've told Bose, but not anyone else."
Me: "I'm sure he didn't take it well, either."
Volt: "Nope."
I take one hand and puts it on Volt's shoulder.
Me: "I understand how hard this is for you."
Volt: "It's really hard, but I just can't leave you. I really need you. You're the only person in the world who makes me feel happy whenever I'm sad. You're the only person who helps me feel safe. I don't want it to end."
I knew Chapa was about to cry, so I pulled her into a hug. She hugs me back as she breaks down into tears. I rub her back to try and calm her down, and I start to cry a bit, too. We both stay in the hug for about a minute, and we both let go.
Volt: "Thank you, I really need that."
Me: *wipes away Volt's tears* "I'm just happy to be here with you."
Volt: "Yeah, and I really want this moment to last forever."
Me: *smiles* "Me, too."
Both of us stand guard in front of the Vice Mayor's office again, keeping an eye out for Drex.
