CHAPTER 19

I'm not sad.

I'm not hurt.

I'm not even disappointed. Numb, is how I would describe my feelings right now.

Ariel takes my hand again, giving it a light squeeze. My mind is far from here right now. In a place where I only find peace. Everything is in slow motion around me, the banging of the door as the woman closes it sounds distant to my ears.

Ariel's voice sounds muffled, like he's speaking under water. There's a ringing sound in my ears that blocks any other sound from being heard. There's this ringing high pitched sound in my ears.

My feet feel heavy, my wings long gone, retreated to their safe haven and left me in pieces. I'm always in pieces. When will Lycidas stop? I know have lost hope on this bond but, does he even have a heart?.

The walk back to the pack house feels like a five year journey. Ariel is talking, his mouth is moving, he also shakes his head and massages his temples. His eyes holds sadness, guilt and fear.

I wish I was able to feel all that, because right now I don't feel anything. I don't want to.

The first person to see us is Darius, he's in the kitchen drinking water when we get in, he smirks and says something and rolls his eyes. Ariel doesn't say anything though neither do I. What can I say when I didn't even here what he said.

He must have noticed my lack of emotion on my face because he places his water bottle on the island and his face turns to that of confusion.

Ariel continues to lead me by my hand, the sitting room table is occupied by three people. Anwar, Crimson and Mikael.

When we come to view by the door they all look at us, Crimson with her regular smile as she says something looking at me. Her smile drops when she notices my lack of response and she looks at Ariel then Anwar who stands up and walks towards us. His brows are raised in confusion and he says something while looking at me but I don't respond, I don't even blink. He frowns looking at Ariel and I see Ariel responding and raising his hands as if to tell him to stay away.

It's like I'm standing near a waterfall and all I can hear is the rushing water.

Anwar pushes Ariel away harshly and grips my shoulders shaking me. He is shouting, his face is turning red from it. Ariel comes again and tries to take my hand but Anwar punches him square in the face causing him to fall a few feet away. Mikael rushes to his rescue while Crimson yells at something while trying to hold back an angry Anwar.

Darius runs in and helps Crimson to hold back Anwar.

Lycidas comes storming down the stairs followed by Remus. His eyes lands on me, and his mouth moves as if he's asking me what's going on. I just stare at him, through him, searching inside his deepest parts, wondering if he has a soul.

He frowns and walks straight to me, he looks at me up and down, talking to me. I stand there with my hands on my sides like a moment frozen in time. Lycidas brings his hand on my forehead checking my temperature and he looks back at Anwar and Ariel obviously demanding for an explanation.

Ariel hangs his head low refusing to say anything, Lycidas turns to Anwar who is on the verge of shifting and he bares his teeth.

Remus looks at me like he knows where I buried my milky teeth. His face is emotionless as always, but his eyes tells me stories I don't know, stories I don't want to know.

Lycidas grips Anwar's forearm harshly, veins popping on his neck as if he's yelling ontop of his voice. Anwar quickly bows his head and bares his neck to him in submition.
