"So what's your favourite colour?"
"Pff, your questions are lame. Anyways I don't have any"
"You're a Fae,a colorful and vibrant creature who doesn't have a favorite colour?"
"Yes, sue me. I'm guessing yours is black?"
"Yes, yes it is, how did you know, it's not that obvious is it?"
"It is" I say drinking some water. Lycidas and I are currently sitting at the dining table, just the two of us having lunch.
"So what were you and Elena discussing?"
"Oh, the neighbouring pack wants to form an alliance with ours but I don't trust the alpha, I asked for advice from my close helpers but they all suggested the same thing."
"And what did she suggest?"
"She suggested the same thing as the rest of them, to agree to it"
"Well if you don't trust him, why don't you invite him to your pack and let him stay for a week or so and monitor his behaviour, then you'll make a decision after that."
He thinks for a moment then blinks at at me, "you know I didn't think of it that way, I was going to suggest that I send spies into his pack to watch out for any suspicious behaviour then report back to me"
I shake my head immediately, " Let's say you do that, and the sheet comes out clean then they catch your spies, wouldn't that just ruin your chance of making good allies.?"
He smiles, "where have you been all my life?"
"Here maybe, I don't know"
"Seriously though, you spoke like a true Luna, baby girl" and I blush. " Well I guess I'll tell Elena to change the plan" and my blush vanishes.
I know he notice it and drops his fork looking at me, " once you're ready. You will take charge okay?"
"What makes you think I'm not ready now?" I scowl and he just shakes his head, "you're still grieving, you think no one notices how you've been wearing green ever since you heard of her passing but I do. Maybe when we've sent your friend off and your heart's at peace, you'll finally step up and be Luna Lordess and rule by my side" my heart almost burst out of my chest. The care in his voice makes me wanna jump his bones right here and now but I just settle for a smile and a small nod. Because I know I might just end up strangling the lies out of this pathetic alpha.
"Tell you what, finish your food and then come with me. I have a surprise for you"
That gains my attention, "can we go now?" I ask my legs bouncing like a toddler in line waiting for some icecream. "No Melody finish your food first" he says and I huff.
Lycidas just watches me as I shove the vegetables down my throat without even chewing with an amused expression. Once I'm done I push it away from me and stand up, "let's go" I call with a grin. Lycidas just sits there before he bursts out laughing. I wipe my face with a frown, " what, is something on my face?." He shakes his head and stands from his chair. "Nah, it's nothing of that sort, it's just your excitement. Why are you even so excited?" I frown again, " well, shouldn't I be?" He says nothing and takes my hand in his and starts walking out the dining room and up the stairs.
We stop infront of the door before we reach his office, my nerves driving me insane, I squeeze his hand as to remind him that he's wasting time. He looks at me with his usual smirk plastered across his face and then pushes the door open.
It smells like a box of brand new shoes.
The paint on the wall is a creamy white color, a large brown mahogany desk sits at the center of the room, taking almost all the space. Behind it is a comfy looking swinging black chair. The space on top of the desk is empty, almost begging to be filled with papers, files, laptops and pens.
There's a window behind the desk, overlooking the garden, and I suddenly wish Lycidas would say this whole space is—
