A groan escape my lips and I hiss as a killer headache pounds my temples. My eyes are closed as I try to take in my surroundings with my other senses. I feel a warm body almost too close to my face and I act on impulse "aria", I whisper. I sit up and open my eyes with my arm outstretched as I hear a yelp from my victim. A boy maybe two years younger than I am struggle in the air with both his hands on his neck trying to get free from my invisible hold.

I tilt my head to the side trying to get a better view of him to determine whether he is a threat or not. Just  then the  door bust open as I was contemplating on letting him go.

"Put him down Melody, now!" He commands, his voice sending shivers down my spine and I find myself listening to what he is saying . He did use his Alpha tone on me afterall, not that it has any effect on me either. The boy falls with a loud thud on the floor and take large gulps of air, clutching his chest like he just saw his life flashing before his eyes. He stays on the floor not looking like somebody who wants to leave anytime soon.

"Jesus woman, here I am actually having pity on you and wanting to keep you company and you are trying to kill me!" He coughs still gripping his neck. His face a deep shade of red now.

"I don't need company " I say my voice sounding hoarse and cold.

"Get out of here Ariel, before I do something I'll regret " Lord Lycidas says moving further into the room. The boy scrumbles to his feet and before he goes I let out a cold laugh
"Your name is Ariel? Well you do look like a girl " i say tauntingly.

"Well lady, that was very mean and you look like shit. Hair like a bird nest and all" he says before scurrying out of the room. My hand immediately goes to my head and I touch my hair lightly and scoff. Obviously, I'm black, my hair can't survive a day without a wash and a whole routine. Black fae were not usual but not rare either. There was no difference in power between black and white fae.

Lycidas makes himself comfortable in a chair next to the bed and fold his arms, his muscles bulging and flexing while he does so. I find myself lost in what was meant to be mine but clearly know I would never get.

"Like what you see" his signature smirk is plastered across his face. I almost roll my eyes at his arrogance.
"I've seen better" I shift on the bed trying to get comfortable. His face is stoic now, showing no emotion. Is he bipolar, I didn't know human sicknesses affected supernaturals.

"I came here to talk about what happened three days ago" he says in a monotone. My face scrunches up in confusion and I blink at him.
"What happened three days ago" his eyes immediately goes from my face to my neck and then back.

"You were out for three days. What happened that night was a mistake, I did it to save you, take  nothing out of it. Afterall I wouldn't want kill my new prisoner" He says not giving me any time to take the words he says in.

His words slice through my heart one by one, I never asked for this. Finding my beloved who doesn't even care about me when all I've done in my life is yearn for him, his touch. I inhale sharply trying to calm the raging turmoil inside of me.

"It was a mistake that you saved me" my words come out more of a statement than the question I intended them to be. His face remain emotionless. I remember he marked me, but why did I expect more of his actions. Why do I always make the mistake of trusting people too quickly.

"Yes, creatures like you don't deserve to live." His voice is like a bucket of cold water on my face. Don't cry don't cry don't cry... I repeat the words in my mind like a mantra. Yes his words hurt, yes I feel like I wasn't meant to be happy. I never thought I would hear those words from someone who was destined to be with me.
