At the grocery store, Indigo made sure to pick up enough things to last a month because if Sage agreed to move, they'd leave in about a month. The price of food had gone up and she was forced to cut back on a few things but it was still enough to buy Sage's cereal and a bottle of milk. She made sure that she had everything on the list before leaving. When she made it to her car, she saw a note attached to the windshield. Thinking nothing of it she grabbed it and threw it into the car along with the grocery bags.
"Sage, come help with the bags please." She called as she entered the house. She waited for Sage's answer but there was no sound so she figured that she's at Natalie's house and Indigo emptied the car by herself. She emptied the bags but when she went to grab the milk she saw the letter that was on her windshield was now stuck to the bottle. She carefully peeled it away to read the now soggy note.
Very brave of you to think you could get away with it. She read the note ten times over not sure if it was a mistake or a dumb prank. Gotten away with what? She thought. She left the note on the table and put the milk away before going up to her room to try and get some sleep. She was so fast asleep that she didn't hear Sage come home.
"Mom, I'm home." Sage called out but there was no answer. She decided to go to the kitchen and get a snack when she saw a letter on the table. "Very brave of you to think you could get away with it. What?" Sage turned the page over, "L.C who the heck is this for?" She placed the note back and grabbed the cereal and sat down to do her homework.
"Oh hi honey, when did you get back?" Indigo yawned.
"I just came home."
"How about we order pizza today?"

"Mom, Indigo and Sage have been kidnapped." Seth spoke frantically into the receiver.
"What?"
"Can you come over, I think they..."
"Seth? Seth? Can you hear me?"
The call dropped and Seth fell to his knees, clutching his chest. He tried to reach for the phone to call 911 but it was out of reach. In a panic, he tried to pull himself up but failed until he was finally unconscious. When he finally came to, he was surrounded by doctors and nurses. He tried to move but his muscles felt tight and he was still feeling weak.
"You're lucky your mother called us on time, Mr. Conrad." The doctor said. "I'll let you rest, don't strain yourself too much. Try to relax."
When the doctor finally left Seth tried sitting up again and managed to hold himself up for a while before giving up and falling back into the hospital bed.
"Mom..what happened?" He managed to get out.
"Oh, honey. You suffered a mild stroke. Dr. Patel said that it was because your blood pressure was too high. I thought you were taking your medication everyday." Mrs. Conrad explained.
"Indi...go gave me every...night."
"Okay honey, you rest and we'll continue to look for Indigo and Sage."
On the other side of town, Indigo had finally escaped the 5 years of endless torture and was headed to the Ohio train station. With no money and only the clothes on her back, she decided that a fresh start will be good for her and her four-year-old daughter.
"Two tickets to Chicago please." Indigo said at the ticket counter.
"Mommy, where are we going?" Sage tugged at her mom's jacket.
"We're going on holiday sweetie." She looked down at Sage.
"Why isn't daddy here?"
"Look honey, the train is here. Let's go."
Indigo picked up her bag, slung it over her shoulder, and heaved Sage up from the ground. She made her way to the train and looked for her seat. She didn't know where she was going to stay or if Sage would have any food. She whipped out her phone to hunt for jobs and there were a few options that popped up.
"Lizzy's Fabrics is looking for an assistant. Perfect." She booked an interview for the next morning. "But what will I wear?"
As she pondered on the thought of getting a credit card to buy clothes Sage had woken up.
"Mommy, I'm hungry."
"Let me see what I have."
She rummaged through the bag and all she could find was a small piece of chocolate and a 5 dollar bill. She handed the half eaten chocolate bar to Sage.
"When we stop I'll get you something, okay?"
"Okay mommy! I wish I could eat candy everyday!" Sage chomped happily on the little chocolate bar she had.
