"Life is like that Indi, not everything will go your way." Malakai Princeton sat across Indigo. "Hello? Are you even listening to me?"
Indigo looked down at her coffee, the cream bobbed around in the mug as she poked at it with her spoon. She looked up at Kai, his warm eyes always made her feel at home but today they made her feel like she was about to burst into tears. She shot her eyes back to the cream that was slowly melting. She always hated asking for help and Kai knew that, but if she had called him to meet with her there must have been something that bothered her.
"Kai, do you think I deserve happiness?"
"What kind of a question is that? Yes, you deserve happiness."
"Well, I don't feel like I do. I mean, I have been trying to get a good father figure for Sage ever since Seth, but as soon as they find out I'm a single mom they run away. Sage deserves that much. She's been living without a dad for ten years now, she's already fifteen and the only thing close to a father figure is you. But you have your own life to live, you won't be here forever."
"Indigo Janet Williams, I've said it before and I'll say it again, I will always have your back. No matter where you are or who you are with. I will always be present in Sage's life. Heck, if you want me to marry you I will."
"Kai, don't joke about marriage like that."

Indigo sat on her bed doing her chemistry homework, sneaking glances at the clock. Where is he? Did he forget? She thought to herself, and there it was, that familiar knock at her bedroom window. She quickly closed her books and shoved them into her bag, she set her hair and fixed her pyjamas before opening the window.
"Seth!" she hugged him before he could even enter her room.
"I can see that you missed me."
"Obviously I missed you, who wouldn't? she held him close to her."
"So, what do you want to do now?" He asked as he reached for the hem of her shirt.
"No," she tugged her shirt away and stepped back, "you just got here. Let's talk for some time. Also, I need your help with the chem homework."
"Indigo! You always do this. We've been dating for so long now, other girls would be dying to let me fuck them." He stepped closer, "You're not that special you know. You're just a dirty, poor bitch! You're so lucky I didn't tell everyone that your mom is a prostitute!" He grabbed her wrist and twisted it behind her back.
"Seth, please. My parents are at home today."
"I don't care." He shoved her shoulders down so that she knelt before him. "Now," he grabbed a handful of her hair, "show me how your mom makes money."
