"Sage, I'm home." Indigo called out.

When there was silence, she realised that Sage was not at home and was probably at Natalie's house again. So, to kill time, Indigo made herself a cup of coffee and headed to the living room to get some work done. She was on her third or fourth cup of coffee when she realised that it wasn't helping her stay awake so, she decided to take a quick nap before she started making dinner.

Almost three hours had passed, and Indigo woke up in a panic, she had a nightmare that Sage was in trouble. She shook off the nightmare and looked at the clock. It read seven thirty.

"Sage, why didn't you wake me up?" She called out but there was no answer. "Sage?" When there was no answer again, she started to feel anxious. She dug through her bag to check if Sage decided to stay the night at Natalie's house but there was nothing. She dialled Sage and listened to it ring and go to voicemail, she tried again but there was no answer. Her last attempt left her shattered, this time instead of hearing it ring, it went straight to voicemail. Indigo felt her heart drop to her stomach. But she thought that maybe Sage's phone died, so she called Natalie's mom.

"Hi Stacy, its Indigo. I was wondering if Sage is staying over at your house today?"

"Hi Indi. No, Sage didn't come over today." Hearing this made Indigo scared.

"Really, so she came straight home after the bus dropped her off?" She hoped that was the case.

"I'm not sure, I was out when the bus came. Let me call Natalie."

"Okay, thank you." As she waited for Natalie, she made up different scenarios in her mind and none of them were good.

"Hello, Mrs. Williams? Are you there?" Her thoughts were cut short by Natalie's voice.

"Yes, yes. I'm here. Honey, did Sage come home after the bus dropped her off?"

"What do you mean? Didn't you fetch her from school today?" This made Indigo's stomach knot.

"What? No,I didn't."

"You're joking, I saw her get into your car. I know your car that's why I wasn't concerned when I saw her leaving in it."

Indigo dropped her phone and fell to the ground. Why would someone take her child? Was this some elaborate plan to scare Indigo? All the thoughts ran through her mind as she blacked out. When she came to, there were paramedics in her house. She wondered if she was dreaming, but quickly realised she wasn't when she felt a needle prick her left arm. Her heart was pounding, and her face was covered with sweat. It was now eight fifteen and there was still no sign of Sage anywhere.

"Mrs. Williams, I'm Ruth. Can you tell me your age please?" The medic asked in a calm tone.

"Where's my baby?"

"Ma'am, we need you to stay calm. If you panic you might faint again."

"I'm thirty years old."

"We've got a young female in her thirties that fainted. We believe that it was caused by stressed. On route to Chicago med." The medic spoke into the radio on her shoulder. "Ma'am, we need you to tell us what happened."

"My baby, she was taken." She sobbed.

"Just stay calm, we will inform the police. How old is she?"

"She's fifteen." Indigo sobbed. "Please find my baby."

At the hospital, the nurses had already called the police and they were in the waiting area. As soon as Indigo was assigned a room, the policemen came to see her. Natalie and her mom arrived after the ambulance and the nurses ushered them into the waiting area. The policeman grabbed chairs and they sat at each side of the bed. On her left was a younger man that looked like he was in his mid thirties, he had orange hair and his nose and cheeks were covered with freckles. And on her right was an older man, he was bald and clean shaven and when he smiled at Indigo, she noticed a single dimple on his left cheek.

"Good evening ma'am, my name is Marcus and this over here is my partner Ethan." Said the policeman on her right.

"Ma'am, we need you to tell us exactly what happened." Said Ethan as he took out his notepad and pen.

"Well, I got home at around four, I called out for Sage but there was no answer. So I assumed she was at her best friend's house as usual."

"Sage Williams, is that her full name?" Marcus asked, his hazel eyes filled with concern.

"Sage Louise Williams, that's her full name."

"Continue."

"So I thought nothing of it, I went to do a bit of work and ended up falling asleep. When I woke up at seven thirty, I called out to her again and there was still no answer. So I decided to call her, it rang and went to voicemail twice but the third time it went straight to voicemail," she sobbed and Ethan handed her a tissue. "Then I called her best friend and that's when Natalie told me that someone with the same car as mine fetched Sage."

"Okay ma'am, thank you for your time. We will check if the school has surveillance or if any of the homes in the surrounding area has cameras." Marcus said as he left the room.

"Get some rest Mrs. Williams. We shall not rest until your child is brought to safety." Ethan reassured her.
