Indigo and Kai were silent as Kai drove home. She didn't know if it was a bad thing, but she hoped that he understood. When he finally pulled into the driveway Indigo got out and headed inside. Again, Kai sat there for a while. Maybe this would be his chance, he had liked Indigo for a long time now and with Sage being his daughter he thought they could live like a family. He thought long and hard and decided that he would ask her tonight. He got out of the car and rushed to Indigo's room. She was getting undressed, when her door flew open, she was startled and covered her body with her bedsheets."Kai?" She looked at him.
"Indigo, just listen to me, okay?" He said as he closed the door.
"No, just get out."
"Listen Indigo, please." He walked up to her.
"I don't want to talk to you or anyone for that matter. I just killed someone's daughter and injured their son. There is nothing you could say to me that will change that."
"Indigo, that was self-defence, it was an accident." He reassured her.
"Was it? I enjoyed pulling the trigger on Seth. I'm a murderer." She cried.
Kai walked up to her closet to get her a nightgown and handed it to her. She changed while his back was to her.
"Are you done yet?" He asked.
"Yeah, you can turn around."
"Look Indi, what you did today was protecting your child. They kidnapped her and you saved her. I would have done the same thing if I was in your position." He sat next to her on the bed. "You and I know what Seth put you through all those years ago and those feelings you felt while holding that gun was pure rage. You were on momma bear mode."
They both laughed, Indigo placed her head on Kai's lap, and he spoke to her until they fell asleep.
Kai woke up with a sharp pain in his neck, he looked down to see Indigo still sound asleep. He gently lifted her head off his lap and placed her on her pillow, then he covered her. He looked over at the clock, it was almost two in the morning, he searched the bedside table for painkillers but there weren't any there was only a muscle balm which he applied to his neck. He turned over and looked at Indigo, she was literally perfection in his eyes, but it would be selfish of him to push her into a relationship so soon. He wanted so desperately to tell her how much he cared for her, if only he wasn't so afraid of sharing his emotions all those years ago, maybe the outcome would have been better. He drifted off to sleep and felt better knowing he was there to keep them safe.
"Mom! Wake up." Sage called from the other side of the door.
Indigo woke up and saw that Kai wasn't next to her.
"Mom, the cops are here."
"Okay, I'll be right down."
Indigo was afraid, what if they know she's a murderer. She removed all the negative thoughts from her mind and decided that she needed to take a shower, she wanted to at least look good when they arrested her. She let the warm water wash away her guilt, flashbacks of Layla falling to the ground and the sound of the gun as she fired it at Seth were haunting her. Nonetheless, she got dressed and headed downstairs.
"Good morning Mrs. Williams." Ethan flashed a smile. "You remember my partner?" He pointed to Marcus.
"Yes I do. Good morning officers."
"Mrs. Williams, we have some news for you. Your husband is still alive." The officers looked at each other. "However, he would like to see you."
Indigo shook her head. "No, I can't."
"Why mom? Shooting him wasn't enough?" Sage snapped.
"Go to your room Sage." Indigo instructed.
"No, I'm going with to the hospital with the cops."
"No, it's still a risk to let you out of the house. Please listen to your mom." Marcus stepped in.
"Wow, great work mom. First you shoot my father then you don't even want me to see him." Sage stormed off to her room.
"Mrs. Williams, we need you to tell us everything about last night." Ethan said as he pulled out his notebook.
Indigo explained everything that happened last night in great detail, and they had even asked about her relationship with Seth, as much as it hurt, she told them everything.
"Look Mrs. Williams, we can understand if you don't want to come with us to the hospital." Ethan placed a hand on her knee.
"No," she wiped the tears from her eyes. "I'll come."
