"Lindsey?" Stevie frowned as she spoke his name out loud. It wasn't because she didn't know his voice, it was because she was surprised to hear it. "Ho-how did you get my number?"

"I found it in an old notebook and just tried my luck, I had no idea if I was going to reach you." Lindsey answered and she felt as if he was hesitant to continue talking, that he was unsure about her wanting to talk to him.

Stevie sat in silence for a moment, twirling the cord around her finger. She shifted her gaze over to Jimmy, who stood a couple of steps away, hands on his hips, letting her know that he wasn't about to leave the room.

"Could you give me some privacy?" Stevie asked, shielding the speaker with her hand.

Jimmy raised an eyebrow, he moved his hands away from his hips and folded his arms over his chest. "Why?"

"Because I asked you to." Stevie replied calmly.

Shifting his weight from one foot onto the other, Jimmy remained in his spot, then sighed heavily as he rolled his eyes and eventually stomped out.

"I'm here." Stevie returned to Lindsey, who was patiently waiting for her. "Why are you calling me? A week ago you were telling me to fuck off and never bother you again."

"I know. I know and I'm sorry." Lindsey apologized. "I was totally out of line."

Stevie chuckled lowly as she leaned back in her seat. "Lindsey Buckingham admitting he was wrong? That's new."

"Ha-ha." Lindsey replied dryly. "Yeah, I'm the same asshole I was before."

"No, you're not." Stevie disagreed, a small smile crossed her lips. "You've apologized. So..." She trailed off still wanting to know why they were on the phone right now.

"I guess- I don't know." Lindsey began, but stopped himself from being honest. "I've been thinking a lot about, you know, everything after seeing you again. We haven't seen each other in years and the second time we do after all this time, I almost made you cry. That- I- I didn't mean to speak to you that way, Stevie."

"Well-" Stevie paused to clear her throat, instantly chocked up after hearing him say that. "Thank you. And I really didn't come to you to throw my fame or whatever in your face. I guess, when I saw you playing at that place, I realized..." She took a deep breath. "I realized how much I've missed you and I really just wanted to see you again and do something nice for you. To say thank you for all you've done for me." She added.

She heard him gulping something down on the other end of the line before he responded. "I've missed you too and it's not easy for me to admit that."

"I know." Stevie wiped a tear that was rolling down her cheek.

"I'm also not calling you because of your offer, I'd hate for you to think that." Lindsey cleared that up, because it was true.

"I know that too." Stevie nodded to herself. "The offer is still on the table, though, if you're interested."

"How about-" Lindsey considered what he wanted to say for a second. "How about we start by grabbing a drink? Catch up on each other's lives." He suggested.

"I'd love that." Stevie smiled, she didn't even have to think about it.

They agreed on when and where, the conversation ended with that. Stevie stared at the phone for a moment after they hung up in disbelief. Just a few days ago, she was convinced that Lindsey hated her and never wanted to see her again. She knew that it would take a lot of hard work to rebuild their friendship, but she was glad that they both wanted to try. At least it felt like they did.

"So?"

"Jesus!" Stevie was startled by Jimmy's voice out of nowhere. "You scared me."

"Why is that guy so eager about getting back into your life all of a sudden?" Jimmy asked.

"I'm really tired about you calling him that guy." Stevie glanced at Jimmy as she passed by him and slipped out of the room.

"Fine, Lindsey or whatever his name is." Jimmy followed behind her.

"You know that's his name." Stevie stopped abruptly and turned around to face him. "He's just an old friend, that's all. He called and asked if I want to have drink with him."

"Ah, yes, right." Jimmy rolled his eyes. "I saw how hearing his voice affected you. I also know that he wasn't just a friend for many years."

"Ex, Jimmy, he's my ex-boyfriend." Stevie emphasized.

"Well, I don't like it anyway." Jimmy shrugged, shaking his head. "You're my girlfriend, I don't want some ex-boyfriend around you."

"You can't tell me who I can and can't hang out with." Stevie was now mirroring Jimmy's stance, her arms crossed over her chest.

"I don't like it." Jimmy repeated. "We've never had this many disagreements about anything, now Lindsey is back and we're fighting about everything."

"What, you think I'm just going to run off with him or something?" Stevie scoffed. "There's a reason why Lindsey and I are no longer together." Maybe arguing about Lindsey wasn't a great idea after all. Clearly, Jimmy was uncomfortable with her reconnecting with a man she was in love with once. Stevie relaxed her arms and stepped closer to Jimmy, her arms went up and around his neck. "You have nothing to worry about."

Jimmy didn't respond to her kiss, he wasn't convinced by her words at all either.
