The ground collapsed. Sarada fell along with the chunks of earth that crumbled underneath of her feet. Fortunately, she managed to land without injury.
"...That being said."
She took in her surroundings. Apparently, this place was originally an underground waterway. The mist barrier significantly dropped the visibility in the vast space surrounding her. She couldn't even tell how far she'd fallen.
Five emotions, five desires.
A technique that requires one to sense another's emotions during battle and manipulate their mind by stimulating their latent desires. Hoshigaki Shizuma was truly a master of this technique.
He fanned the flames on their desire to save Kagura and skillfully manipulated them to gain control over the Mizukage.
Sarada concluded that the only sword capable of blowing a hole through the ground was the bomb sword "Shibuki" that she heard about from Chojuro. The sword was wrapped in explosive tags and was primarily used to kill by detonating opponents, but it also had the ability to change the terrain of the battlefield.
The new seven ninja swordsmen were more skilled with their ninja blades than she gave them credit for. They'd only stolen the ninja blades from the storehouse a few hours before. But on top of understanding their characteristics, they were already able to successfully utilize their unique features in battle.
Sarada looked up. "Seems like I fell quite a ways... I need to hurry back..."
The total distance from the previous ground to where I am now... Maybe about ten of me?
Sarada focused in. She activated her sharingan. By seeing the flow of chakra, she could at least grasp a vague understanding of the situation, even in visibility this low. Apparently, Boruto and Chojuro were still above her. But they weren't together.
There were three large chakra masses near Chojuro, and two near Boruto. Presumably the members of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen. But one of the chakras near Boruto belonged to Kagura. Another one far off in the distance remained unidentified.
Chojuro told her about the original seven ninja swordsman and their blades, but the new swordmen's identities and special abilities remained unknown.
Both Chojuro and Boruto were fighting against opponents with a massive amount of chakra... To be exact, Chojuro was fighting three while Boruto stood on standby. The person by Boruto's side didn't seem to be active, but rather waiting to see what happened.
And that was when Sarada remembered Boruto's speculation.
He said that if he took on Shizuma and Kagura instead of Chojuro, Shizuma wouldn't step in.
Assuming her chakra reading was correct, the person who was standing by idly as the fight went on was none other than Shizuma. He was waiting for Kagura to stand up and fight Boruto. That part, at least, was going according to plan.
"It's only in times like these that he's brilliant... Can't you use your brain like this on a daily basis?"
She decided to worry about how to get back up later.
Boruto is Boruto. He'll be fine. I need to work on making sure I play my part...
Just then, a flash of light in the corner of her vision caught her attention. As skillfully as cutting down a dragonfly, Sarada reacted just in time. Any later, and she would've been paralyzed.
"Lightning style?!"
Sarada gritted her teeth. The chakra clusters she'd been able to make sense of earlier with her sharingan only amounted to eight total. Three people by Chojuro. Two by Boruto. And one far off in the distance. Excluding her allies, it only added up to six. She forgot to account for the one that was missing.
No matter how tense the situation was, that was a huge mistake.
Sarada landed and looked in the direction where the lighting was sent from.
"You seem like you'll be a bit more of a challenge than the spoiled prince above us," said the slender woman, a smile floating up onto her face.
"Kurosaki... Buntan..."
Standing in front of her was the woman herself, eyes filled with a strong and passionate fire. "I won't let a brat like you stand in the way..."
