Jason's pov

We're eating at huddle house. Jessica has tried calling me several times but I won't answer. All I said was I've got the girls. The waitress brings our food. My phone rings again. Miranda shakes her head. I sigh. "She's ignored everything you said about not lying and she didn't listen." she says. We eat and take the girls to the zoo. "Give 'em a good time before I have to tell them." I mumble. She nods. "You can stay at my place for as long as ya need." she says. I nod. We go back to my house where Jessica sits on the couch. "Where have you been?" she shouts, standing up. "Does it matter?" I grumble. "Of course it matters! You've been gone all night and day with the kids and you didn't answer your phone. I had no clue where you were!" she yells.

"What's going to happen?" Keely asks. I sigh and turn around. "I'll let your dad explain it. It's not my place." I say. He comes out of the house a few seconds later. "The girls want to know what's going to happen." I say. He sighs. We get back to my place where I leave him to explain. I go to my room and text Luke. "I'm letting Jason stay at my place." He was wondering what was going to happen so I told him.

*a couple hours later*

"Ya mind watching the girls for a few hours?" He asks. I nod. "Where ya going?" I ask. "Just gonna get a few things." He says. "Ok, see ya. Oh on your way back, can you grab something for dinner?" I ask. He nods and leaves.

I get my song books and extra guitar. Luckily Jessica isn't here so I don't have to deal with her. I go to the store next. "What should I get?" I mumble to myself. I grab spaghetti stuff. "I'll make spaghetti. I love how cool Miranda is about letting us stay at her house. I text her.

J: spaghetti sound good?

M: totally. Hey get some mushrooms too. I like mushrooms in my sauce.

J: already got it. Thx for letting us stay.

M: of course. Stay as long as ya need.

I get to the check out after grabbing a six pack. "Family dinner?" the cashier asks. "I guess so." she smiles really big. I sigh. "I reckon you're a fan?" I ask. "That easy to tell?" she replies. "I've just gotten good at telling." I reply smiling. I get home and begin making spaghetti. "I don't know why I even told you about the mushrooms. I knew you knew." she says, walking in. I smile. We know everything about each other. "So, do you know what you're doing?" she asks. "Not really, but I'll figure it out." I reply. "We'll figure it out. I told you, I'm with you every step of the way on this." she says, sternly. I smile.

*the next day*

I go to the recording studio where I record for the night train album. It should be done by April. I have to make some time out of my busy schedule to legalize this stupid thing. Then I realize something it's my birthday in a few days. I'm about to leave when Miranda and the girls surprise me by showing up at the studio. "Hey girls." I say, "what are yall doing here?" she smirks. "Can't a friend surprise a friend for no reason?" she asks. "I know you. What's the occasion?" I reply. "It's your birthday soon so I figured we'd celebrate early." she says. I smile and hug her. "You're such a good friend." I say.
