Miranda's pov

It's been 4 weeks since the attack and Jason just announced at an interview this morning on the bobby bones show that the wedding is back on. I can't believe I almost died. A knock at the door pulls me from my thoughts. I look up. He's in the doorway. "I dropped off the girls." He says, smiling. I fix the strap on my blue dress. "Tonight looks good on you, baby." He says, kissing me softly. I know what we're both thinking. Date night. He holds my hand, protectively. When I'm with him, I have nothing to worry about. "Ready?" He asks. I nod and we get in his truck, driving to the resturaunt. His hand holds mine. We get there and it's one of the fanciest places I've ever been to.

Jason's pov

The strap of her dress keeps falling down and she keeps having to fix it. At least she's more comfortable after what happened. The waiter comes and takes our order. "Who's gonna watch the girls when we go on tour again?" She asks. I'm not even sure myself. "I haven't chosen, honey, do you even want to go back on tour?" I ask. "Of course. I love when we go on tour together. It reminds me of high school when ya played in bars and I watched." She says. She was always there for me. When I was just getting started, when we were growing up. A memory hits me hard.

~flashback~

I was about to head to Nashville to become a star. She was crying alot. I wish I could take her with me. My hand rests on the open door of the packed up truck. We just look at each other. I fight back tears myself. It's hard to say goodbye to a girl I grew up next to. She hugs me. "I'm gonna miss you." She says. "I'll still visit. You'll be the first person I see when I come home." I choke out. "Don't forget me when you're singin' with George Strait." She jokes. "I could never forget you."

~flashback over~

She's apparently been calling me. "You've been really quiet." She says when I look up. "I'm fine. Just remembering high school." I mumble. They bring our food. "Are you sure you're okay?" She asks. I smile. "I'm fine. I promise." I say.

We walk through the park holding hands, the same one she told me she loved me in. The picnic table still sits there. Along with the tree we made out against. So many memories. "I've been thinking." She says. "Bout what?" I ask. She stops walking. "We should do the wedding back home in Macon. Our family is there." She says. I don't have a problem with that. "Sure baby, anything ya want." I say, kissing her. I never thought about going home to get married. I like that a lot better though.

*later*

I put on Instagram that we're moving the wedding to Macon. That way Brantley, Luke, Brad, Cole, and Eric will know. I set down my phone tired. She's already asleep beside me. I love how she sleeps. One hand under the pillow and one hand under her head. I'm really tired but I'm having trouble falling asleep. I'm too busy watching Miranda sleep.

*several days later*

I make the long drive back to Macon. She sleeps most of the way. I pull up at my mom's house. She greets me with a hug. "It's been too long." She says. Kasi and Miranda talk and mom tells me she needs to talk to me in the kitchen. "What's up, Ma?" I ask, grabbing an apple. "I hope you're making the right decision." She says, cutting something up to make dinner. My smile fades. "What are ya gettin' at?" I ask. "Well, if this falls through, you won't just lose a wife, you'll lose a best friend too and I know how much this girl means to you." She says. "I'm not making a mistake. I know what I'm doing. I also know it will be nothing like Jessica." I gripe, really annoyed. "I'm not trying to make you mad. I just don't want you to get hurt again." She says. "I won't. I just wish I realized how much of a mistake I was making before I married Jessica. She's a total nutjob." I mutter, sitting down.

"I knew you two would end up together. You were just the best of friends." She says. "I'm glad I finally got the courage to tell him." I mumble, looking at the pictures on her walls. One catches my eye. A picture of him right before he left for Nashville. In the picture, he had a smile on his face with one arm around Jessica and the other resting on Kasi's shoulder. He was smiling but he was staring at me and I could see the worry in his eyes. She catches me staring at the picture. "I know what you're thinking." She says, smirking. I try to hide my smile. I doubt it. I'm thinking, I should've told him then. "You're probably wishing you told him right then and there." She says. I look at her shocked. She DID know what I was thinking! Someone knocks at the door. I turn around. "Am I interrupting?" Jason asks, smiling the same familiar smile I see in the pictures. "Not at all honey." I reply patting the bed beside me. He comes and sits down. "So what are you gossip girls talking about?" He asks, making us both laugh. "Wouldn't you like to know!" Kasi says. "We were talkin' about you." I say, kissing him. He rolls his eyes. "Gossip girls." He mumbles. All three of us laugh, reminding me of our childhood. He pulls me into his lap and we kiss again. "I'm glad ya finally came to your senses." Kasi says. "What's that mean?" He asks. "Oh nothin'." She says, trying not to laugh. He shrugs and just holds me. "When the boys get here, we'll have the best wedding ever." He whispers to me. "I can't wait." I say, resting my hands on his cheeks and kissing him passionately.
