Jason's pov

I really like her. I mean, of course I do, we've been friends for so long, just maybe it's time for something bigger, something more. My back rests against the headboard. I can't think straight. I hope this wasn't a mistake. She sleeps beside me. I glance at the clock and realize the girls will be home in 20 minutes! I get dressed and shake her awake. "What's up?" She asks. I smile. She just looks so beautiful laying there in that bed. "Jason." She says, waving her hand in front of my face. "The girls will be home soon." I say. She gets up and gets dressed. "So, what's gonna happen between us?" She asks, making me nervous. We just look at each other. I don't know what is going to happen. We go out to the living room to wait for the girls. Awkward silence falls over us. I hate it. "Somebody's gotta say somethin'. This silence is freakin' me out." I gasp. "So the girls are going with Jessica when you start touring again." She semi asks. "I guess so. I know I can't take 'em with me. They have school." I reply, glad for the conversation. She holds my hand. "Did ya hear Carrie's new single little toy guns?" She asks. "Yeah, it's a great song. I wish I found it first." I reply, laughing. She laughs too then the door opens but it isn't the girls, its Jessica! "Oh no, you are not welcome here!" Miranda yells standing up. "What are you doing here?" I ask, standing up also. "Getting the girls' stuff. You're going on tour soon so I'll just take them early." She says, ticking me off. "That's not happening! You can wait until tomorrow like we decided on." I say. She of course gets really ticked off by that. "Get out! I hate you!" She yells. I hold her back. She looks like she wants to punch her. "Jess, ya better leave." I say as she tries to break free of my grip. "Let me go! She deserves what's coming!" She gripes. "Where will that leave you if you punch her!" I gripe, turning her around. "Much more satisfied than ya think." She mutters, crossing her arms. She turns around glaring at her. "Oh, you're still here! I thought I told you to get out!" She screeches. I can tell she's about to run at her so I grab her around the waist. "Don't do anything." I say. "You need to leave!" I gripe. Finally she does. "If you woulda let me at her..." She mumbles. "Ya know I couldn't let you do that!" I grumble annoyed. "Why not? She needs a good ass kicking!" She yelps. I smile. "I don't want my new girlfriend to get in a fight with my ex wife." I say. Her eyes go wide. "Did I hear correctly?" She asks. I nod. She closes the door since Jessica left it open. "I hate that woman." She says. "You and me both, baby." I reply, twirling her. We lock eyes. "I guess we're really doing this." She whispers. "I guess so." I say, swallowing nervously. She holds my hands and I lean in for another kiss. She moves her hands to my shoulders, mine rest on her hips as we kiss. I sure didn't see this coming yesterday morning but I'm pretty glad it has. The door opens and Keely and Kendyl walk in staring at us surprised. I quickly let go of her. "Uh, h-hey girls. How was school?" I ask. They just stare at us. I tell them to get started on their homework and that gets them moving. "Are we gonna tell them?" She asks. I shrug. I wish they didn't catch us kissing.

*one week later*

We head onto the tour. Jess picked up the girls earlier today. She holds my hand as I walk off the tour bus. Luke's jaw drops. I walk away. I don't want to deal with him asking questions. "Wait, Jason!" He calls. "I'll talk to ya later, man." I say, annoyed. We go backstage as Luke catches up. "Go wait in my dressing room, I'll be there in a minute." I say. She nods and lets go of my hand. She kisses my cheek and walks away. "You're dating her now!?" He gapes, surprised. I nod. "How'd this happen?" He asks. I smile and sit on a cooler. "Well, Jess and I got divorced. She let me stay at her house. One thing led to another and now we're dating. I was shocked by it too, trust me. I never expected to fall for her." I explain. He laughs. "You getting any action?" He asks, nudging my shoulder. I shove him off. "Shut up, Luke!" I gasp, laughing. "Man, I didn't see this coming! I've been hitting on her the past year. She just didn't notice." He says, surprising me. "Yeah, she was too blinded by me. She said she's been in love with me since high school but I just didn't realize." I say. He laughs. "You mean when you two...." He whispers. "Again shut up, man. She doesn't know you know about that. And yes. When that happened." He laughs hysterically. I punch his arm annoyed. "Knock it off man." I say, standing up. I head to my dressing room where she stands in front of the mirror. She turns around when she sees me come in. I walk over, wrapping my arms around her waist. She smiles and places her hands on my shoulders. I kiss her and hold her tighter. "Don't you ever let me go!" She says. "I'll never make that mistake again." I whisper, kissing her again. Mike yells, "five minutes." As in, it's five minutes until I go onstage. I glance over my shoulder and call, " I'll be there in a second." He closes the door and leaves us alone. "Maybe later we can meet at my bus." I say. "You bet." She whispers kissing me again. I go out onstage and sing she's country but now that song has a girl behind it.
