That day, when Jin left, he off all social media. He only need to notify his friends and Jungkook that he will be away before turning off his mobile. His exit was actually rather smooth. There isn't a need to notify other people. His company already knew of his extended leave of absence that was supposedly to help out with Jungkook's wedding. Funny, how he was supposed to help, yet he screwed up instead.
Jin was sitting outside his cabin, sipping his hot tea. He have always wanted to go camping, but staying in a tent alone in middle of forest is rather scary. So the next best thing is, booking a private cabin in Lapland. For the past days, all he did was busying himself and trying out new things like ice fishing. He even manage to set new routine which he intends to stick by it till his vacation ends. His mobile phone? He didn't even bother to charge. Actually the truth is, he is running away from his problem. He knew this is not right but its just the way he copes by avoiding the situation.
The night falls and the weather is at sub-zero. Yet, Jin is now all bundled up in his thick down jacket, scarf, ear muffs, gloves, thick socks along with extra blanket, sitting alone in the front yard of his cabin. He even placed his DSLR camera on standby mode to capture on what he was informed by his guide earlier during the day, that tonight's aurora is going to be strong and not one to be missed.
It was as though, there's a switch that triggers this phenomenal glow. Jin was genuinely awestruck. He has been waiting for this. The weather for the past weeks has not been great and Jin had even went to comfort himself on the possibility of leaving this place without witnessing this magnificent view.
"Kookie... this is beautiful. How I wish you're here with me. If only I didn't screw up, we would have been able to fulfil our ultimate bucket list together. Then again, Kookie is already married. Maybe I should recommend them to come here next time. Hmm... should I change my name to Aurora? Aurora is soooo beautiful. What am I blabbering about. Shouldn't have drink that wine..."
While Jin was talking to himself, there's someone who came forward to help him press the camera. "Matt! You gave me a fright! Oh stupid me! Thanks for pressing the camera, else everything will be in vain! Anyway Matt! You are right. Today is really my lucky day! The aurora is so so so beautiful!"
Matt continues to fiddle with the camera, not responding to Jin. Which was weird as Matt was always chatty. Jin didn't think much about it, he just blames it on the cold weather. "Brr..." Jin starts to shiver due to the cold breeze.
That caught Matt's attention. He unwrapped his scarf before turning to Jin. Despite the strong glow from the aurora, its rather hard to see Matt's face, as his eyes hurts from the cold breeze. Jin squint his eyes, as Matt approached nearer to him, trying to figure out what Matt is trying to do. Matt then wrapped his own scarf over Jin's, providing another layer of warmth.
"Thank you. Aren't you cold?"
Matt again didn't respond. He left shortly and came back, placing his chair next to Jin.
"Bucket list checked."
Jin chuckled and muttered to himself. "Hahs. Now I'm hearing things. That wine is sureee screwing me over."
They two continues to silently watched the orchestrated natural light. Jin was again lost in his thoughts. Since this was his lucky day, he decided to make a wish. He close his eyes, clasping his hands, as he wish for his Kookie's happiness, just as he promised in the letter.
"You're beautiful, just like the aurora, Jinnie-ya..."
That clear voice. He knew. But how? He quickly turns to look at the man beside him. Carefully, he whispered, "Koo...? Is that you..?"
"We meet again, love."
