(England's Point of View)
I was not the happiest bloke that night, not because of the Legos, but because my brother was stupid enough to pull a prank close to Christmas. "I'm sorry, Arthur," Sealand began, hanging his head low. "Yeah, we're sorry, England," Avery tried to fight back tears, and hung her head low as well. "Wait a tick, why are you apologizing?" I asked her. "It was Peter's idea to prank someone," she explained, sighing. "But it was my idea to put the Legos in all of your beds." "I did say that it was a good idea," Sealand admitted. "And I thought it would be fun to pull a prank together." "We admit that it wasn't our brightest idea, though," Avery sighed, looking at Sealand for a brief moment. "Let's just safely say that it won't happen again." I was shocked. Not only was my brother mature in apologizing to me, but Avery also didn't hide anything from me for once. "I'm very pleased with both of you," I smiled. "Y-You're not mad at us?" Sealand asked, bewildered.
I shook my head. "I'm going to let you to off with a warning, though." "Okay!" they cheered, rushing to clean up their mess. I'm glad to say that they didn't pull off anymore pranks like that again.
(Avery's Point of View)
"I can't believe he just let us go like that!" I said to Sealand. "I know," he smiled. "Usually, he'd give me a whipping for doing something like that. I'm surprised he didn't punish me." "My dad would've killed me for pulling a prank on him," I felt a lump in my throat. Sealand wrapped his arm around my shoulder. "Don't cry, AJ," he whispered. "Sorry," I replied. "I'm just having a stupid flashback, and it sucks right now. Nearly getting our butts kicked by England didn't really help much." "I'll finish cleaning up," he offered. "You can go help Finny set up the tree." "Okay," I replied. "Are you sure?" "I insist," he grinned. "Okay, if you say so," I dumped the last of my Legos back into the box and went to go help Finland.
I took a small, white pill out of my purse and shoved it in my mouth. "That should help make my flashback go away," I muttered to myself. The event occurred more than eight years ago, but I still remember every detail of it.
*******(flashback)*******
I was only seven years old when it happened, but I still remember it like it was yesterday. My dad had had a few bottles of Jack Daniels, so he wasn't in his best mood. I also wasn't cleaning my room at the time, so he was only more furious. When I came home from school one morning, I found him sitting near the fireplace. "Hello, Aves," he said. "Whatcha doin'?" I asked, curiosity got the better of me. "Come, sit by the fire with me." I did as he asked, and sat on his right. I watched it burn for a few minutes. I was confused for a second, until I noticed something getting tossed in it. It was a book, and one of my favorites, too. "This is why you clean your room, Aves," my dad sneered. "Like I've been asking you to for the past month!" He was throwing all of my books into the fire. He was burning my precious babies. "I-I-I'm so-" I began, only to be cut off by his shouting. "Sorry doesn't cut it!" he shouted, throwing another one of my favorite books into the fire. "No!" I screamed, tears forming into my eyes.
******(end of flashback)******
I curled myself up into a ball in the middle of the hallway. "Must. Keep. My. Sanity," I muttered to myself shakily. I closed my eyes, forming tears. "Sanity. Must. Be. Kept. Must. Not. Lose. Mind," I sobbed. "It's not working!" I surrendered, trying to make my way to my room. I felt someone lift me off the ground, which made me feel ten times worse. I didn't bother to see who it was, I just wanted this nightmare to end.
