LIGHT BLINDED IRIS'S EYES AS THEY SLOWLY FLUTTERED OPEN

She felt her waist being pulled in by Dally's arm, his muscles slightly flexing as he tugged her in closer to his body. She laid in silence, reminiscing about the previous event from the night before. Iris was glad that she hadn't gone all the way with Dallas the night before. If she were being honest with herself, the longer she thought about what happened, the more guilt she began to feel.

Dally was her best friend, her only friend— now, she didn't know what they were. There was undeniable tension between them both that they could both feel. Even so, she never expected it to finally break and cause the both of them to finally share intimate moments that they had been longing for with one another.

Iris didn't spend any more time dwelling in her regret and disdain, so she quietly removed Dally's arm from around her and crawled out of his bed. She grabbed her clothes from the end of the bed as she had changed into one of Dally's shirts the night before, an offering made to her by Dallas himself. Even though the gesture was small to him, it was a big deal to her as it was a sign of protection and comfort. Even though his shirt hung loosely on her body due to the large size, it felt as though it fit perfectly.

Just as Iris finished strapping up her black mary janes, she heard a groan from behind her followed with the sound of Dally turning within the sheets. She looked over her shoulder slightly to find Dally still sound asleep, causing her to release a breathe of relief.

Iris slowly made her way down the stairs of Bucks, carefully stepping onto the wooden panels in hopes of them not releasing a little creak sound that would eventually travel up to Dally's room.

Iris finally made her way out, beginning the long journey back to her small, run down home. One that had chipped paint on the walls, followed by revealed gashes of concrete and brick— The front gate rusting away and the metal rotting, the pathway up to her home cracked and harshly broken making it barely walkable. As she approached her final destination, she noticed that her mother's car was no longer in the drive way. It wasn't unusual for her mother to go out at all, but it was suspicious to see her car gone that early in the day. Even so, she was glad that she got the house alone to herself after such a rough and confusing night.

As she entered her home, the cool air from the vents around the house immediately dried her sweat and brought down her temperature. She ran her fingers through her hair, sighing deeply as she shook off her shoes onto the shoe mat. Making her way down the hall, she shut the door to her room after entering and immediately began to undress. As she turned to her closet, she caught her reflection in her mirror— there, she studied her body and looked down at the legs.

Dally's finger marks she thought to herself, tracing over the bruises that were created by Dally's strong and lustful grip from the night before. She never realised how harsh he was holding onto her, as if he believed that any second she were going to disappear. Why was he so desperate to pleasure me? She sighed in her head, tracing over the marks one last time before turning back to her closet and grabbing a pair of sweats along with a shirt that was 2 sizes too big.

She crawled into the comfort of her bed, tucking herself under the covers as her eyes began to feel heavy, slowly closing as she began to feel tired once again.

"Iris!" her mother yelled from the kitchen as she set grocery bags onto the off-white coloured countertops. "Iris honey!" she repeated, yelling louder down the hall which only caused Iris to shift in her slumber. Her mother sighed deeply in frustration, strutting down the hallway and bursting into her room, not bothering to knock. Iris jolted awake at the sudden clamour, sitting up and staring at her mother with wide eyes. "You okay?"

"Fine.. you just surprised me." She sighed heavily, running her fingers through her hair. "What's up?"

"I just wanted to let you know that one of my friends wants me to go to a flower convention in the state over.. whatever the fuck that means" Iris's mother chuckled dryly, rolling her eyes. "i'll be gone for about a week so.. you can get shitfaced and throw ragers if you want" She told her sarcastically. Iris laughed at her and mumbled a small 'okay'.

Her mother gave her a light kiss on the forehead, stroking over her hair before giving her a smile. "I just went grocery shopping so you'll have enough stuff to make yourself food. I also left $50 on the counter for other things if you'd like."

"Okay, bye mama" Iris smiled, her mother leaving the room followed by the sound of the door slamming about 5 minutes later. Iris flopped back down onto her bed, sighing.

Suddenly, there was a knock at her door. She jumped up, quickly putting on her pants before rushing to the door. As soon as she opened the door to see who was there, her eyes widened. "Why leave so suddenly?" Dally asked, his voice deep and hoarse. Iris blushed, Dallas brushing past her as he made his own way into her house.

"I know what you're going to say Dallas." Iris began, huffing and crossing her arms. "And it was a one time thing." Dally looked back at her with a look of displeasure and almost frustration. "I wasn't.. expecting it, of course. But- it's not to say I didn't enjoy it because trust me, I did, but-" Iris was cut off with Dally's hand tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. His body towering over her with much intimidation, her knees growing weak as she practically almost folded right then and there.

"You liked it, eh?" He smirked at her, his cocky attitude and smug expression causing her to stifle a laugh. "So.. you wouldn't mind doing it again?" Iris stepped back, giving him an annoyed look.

"I just said it was a one time thing! and I mean it" She sighed, frustrated. "Listen, I know you're expecting me to just get on my knees for you and come crawling back like your other girls usually would, but I won't okay? I'm not interested in doing a 'friends with benefits' thing" Iris explained, her gaze averting his as not to stumble or falter on her words.

Dally nodded, clicking his tongue as he turned around with a somewhat hidden, hurt expression. Not even a goodbye was said as he left her home, not bothering to look back.

As Iris stood alone in the front area of her house, the rooms stayed silent and the wind outside blew through the trees. The window shutters creaked and her breathing laid heavy in her chest. Because even though she made a promise not only to Dallas, but to herself about not crawling back to him.

SHE KNEW IT WAS A LIE
