--Narrator--

Uzi walked through the cafeteria, looking for a spot where no one was going to bother her. Unfortunatly luck was not on her side today, all the students had spread out on all the tables in the "teenager" section of the cafeteria.

'Guess I'm eating in the adult section again.'

The purple drone thought as she made her way over to the adult's tables, they tended to always stick together which always left entire tables open and even if there was only one or two adults they would probably ignore you if you ignored them which Uzi totally approved. Walking past a table full of adults discussing about the last expedition that the colony did, a lone drone sitting at a table next to a wall caught her eye. It was one of the older members of the colony, one who lived before, during and after the Copper 9's core exploded, his name was Grigori. Uzi usually didn't bother with other drones old or young but Grigori had introduced her to Thad who was the closest thing she had to a friend and was always nice to her so you could say that she was on good terms with the old drone.

'What's he doing all alone ?'

Uzi thought as her body began to move on it's own much to the edgy drone's dismay. Sitting in front of the elder worker Uzi placed her food tray down and said :

"Hey gramps.

-Oh hello Uzi, looking dark and edgy as usual."

Girgori said in his cheery voice as he looked up from his meal and smiled at Uzi. The purple drone would never admit it but Grigori's encouraging words did always give her a small confidence boost.

"Thanks, but, why are you all alone ? Last I checked you were pretty popular among the adults.

-Well sometimes I just like to have some alone time and see how far I've come since I last checked.

-When was the last time you did this ?"

The old  man chuckled at the young girl's question.

"Two years before the murder drones arrived."

Now this sparked quite a bit of curiosity within Uzi, the only memories she had from the life outside the colony was the day the murder drones came. Maybe she could ask Grigori about it ?

"Is something on your mind ?"

Uzi snapped back to reality with a visible flinch like movement.

"How did you-

-Your eyes always dart to the bottom right of your visor when your thinking hard."

Ignoring the slow build up of horror in her mind as she realized that an old man she talked to only a handfull of times knew her better than her own father, Uzi pulled herself by her mental boot straps and asked :

"Can you tell me how things were back on the surface, before the murder drones came."

-Sure, anything you wanna hear about in particular ?

-Can you tell me how dad was back in his prime ?"

A smile formed under the elder's beard as he let out a chuckled.

"Oh boy, back when the core exploded and we were left to alone your father immediatly ditched his job as an engineer and became a cop and since we needed some way to restore order no one stopped him. You should have seen him when he was on duty, that madlad had gotten his hands on an old spetnaz EOD bomb suit and a black tactical synthetic pump-action Remington 870 shotgun he had stolen from the mine's armory. When he was deployed you knew things were going to get loud weather you liked it or not !"
