I ran for a long time, not stopping until I lost sight of it all, and had gotten about a million miles away from that point. Finally I stopped, completely out of breath. I looked around. Every sight, every sound was new, I had no idea how to react, where to go. I had barely even registered what had happened.

My breathing finally began to slow, and my body relaxed. The rain suddenly stopped, and the sky cleared. I heard shouting, and looked back. It was those people from earlier, they were following me! I began to run, knowing that my body wouldn't be able to take much more of this. I was not used to this much exercise, you couldn't run a lot in a small bedroom.

I knew that I had to find my parents, but, were they even still alive? I began to grow slower and slower with each step. The sky darkened again, and it began to rain. I continued to run, now at basically at a walking pace. Suddenly, I slipped on the wet ground and fell. I hit my head hard on the ground and blacked out.

...

I woke up to a throbbing pain in my head. I began to remember what happened, I was running... and I slipped... and...

"She needs to learn how to control it," said a voice.

I sat up and saw that I was laying on a couch, surrounded by those people from earlier. I reached up and touched my head, it was heavily bandaged. "W-where am I?" I asked.

"Never mind that," Said one of the twins, "How long have you had your powers?"

I raised my eyebrows, "Powers? What in the world are you talking about?"

She sighed, "Okay okay, how long have your eyes been this color?"

"My whole life," I replied.

"So that means she was born with them, not cursed." The man with the red eyes murmured to the others.

"You all are crazy!" I spat.

The man looked at me, "Have you ever had this... feeling? This weird, tingling feeling that made you feel so... powerful? And when you got this feeling, did anything strange or peculiar happen, something you can't explain?"

I looked down. I got that feeling earlier, and I wound up burning a hole in my door. "There is no such thing as powers or... or... magic. There is always a logical explanation, and this is NOT logical!" I exclaimed. I got up from the couch, and nearly fell back down, I was super dizzy.

"Where are you going?" The twins asked in unison.

"Out of here," I replied.

The boy with the yellow eyes snickered, "Where to? There's no one out there for you, or at least... not anymore." His words sent chills down my spine. My parents! Oh god, he really did kill them! I need to get out of here!

"You... You all killed them?! You're sick!" I exclaimed, hysterical.

"Wait, before you get all started up," One of the twins began, "We didn't kill them... on purpose."

"On purpose?!" I exclaimed. "How could that be an accident?!"

"Leila please, you have to understand... All we saw was a man, carrying a woman in the middle of the fire." Her sister said. "It was a horrible, horrible mistake. We thought the man was Aeron, and the woman was you... The man was really your father, and the woman your mother, who was already dead... I'm so sorry..."

"What do you care? They locked you away, they left you behind." Said the boy with the yellow eyes, his arms crossed. I glared at him, then glanced down at the ground. In truth, I don't know how I was feeling.

"So they're gone..." I whispered. I looked up. "Why was that fire set to my house?"

The man with the red eyes frowned, "Aeron was after you."

"Why?!" I asked. The twins stared at me curiously.

"You really have no idea." One of them said. "You've had them your whole life, and yet you have no idea..."

"Here, let me explain a little." The yellow eyed boy cut in. "You know that storm, that hole blown in your door, that was you."

"Me?! No way!" I shouted. "That's crazy, it's impossible!"

"Denial, denial." The boy said. "It was you. Pretty awesome too." I shook my head, it couldn't have been me, could it? Then again, there had been that odd feeling. That feeling of power...

"Say all this craziness is true. What does it mean?!" I asked.

"It means you're like us of course." The boy replied. "How do I explain it... uh... weird?"

"Let's try powerful." The red eyed man said. "You do however, need to learn some control."

"Control?!" I whispered. This was all way too much to take in.

"Are you sure this is right?" The boy asked. "Trusting a sixteen year old who knows nothing to defeat Thanatos?" I looked up angrily.

"What is that supposed to mean?!" I asked. "Who the heck is Thanatos!?!"

"It seems we may be confusing you, so let's start from the top." The red eyed man said. "First of, my name is Samuel, and these are James..." He motioned to the boy with the yellow eyes. "Lita and Kira." He pointed to the twins. I really couldn't tell which was which. "We have a little disagreement, between another group, of others like us. This includes the one who started the fire, Aeron, the one who wanted to kill you for your powers."

"Ok, ok..." I tried to get it all to sink in. I wasn't even sure if I was believing this. "If you all have powers, like me, then what are so special about mine?"

"There are two things that are the most strikingly odd." Samuel said. "First of all, you were born with these powers. The rest of us were cursed, by a creature called Thanatos. Second of all, you have multiple abilities, while most of us are only able to use one. It's very, very strange. You are incredibly powerful, and with some control we think you might be able to defeat Thanatos."

"I'm still not sure I can believe you." I said. "There has to be some explanation." James rolled his yellow eyes, groaning.

"We just gave you an explanation." He said, annoyed. "You're a freak, like us."

"So... You guys want me, to help you get revenge on this Thanatos person because of what he did to you?" I asked. "I don't know how to do that!"

"It's not only about what he's done to us." Samuel replied. "It's about what he could do, to everyone."

"I don't think starting rain and blowing holes through doors is going to help you." I said. "I don't know how to use these... powers, or whatever." I jumped with a startled shout as something flew past my head. James had thrown something at me! Suddenly, the lamp by the couch exploded.

"You're right, no control." James said.

"Are you saying I did that?!" I exclaimed.

"Control is something we can teach her." Samuel said. "That is, if you accept helping us out. Though it is for the best. If you leave and don't learn no doubt you'll cause some sort of catastrophe." I stared at him, my mind reeling. Maybe this was all a nightmare. "Don't worry about it now. Get some rest, we'll speak to you tomorrow." Samuel and James left, though the twins stayed behind, no doubt to keep me in here. I closed my eyes, sighing. I'd never wished so badly that I was locked away in my room...
