"You figured it out?! What does it say?!" I exclaimed.

"Hold on, I figured out how to read it okay? I'll write it down..." Derek grabbed more paper, scribbling something.

"Should I get the others?" I asked, feeling strangely excited. He scoffed.

"I guess, if you really want to...." He replied, sounding annoyed. I left, heading to the living room, where everyone was just kind of going about their business.

"Hey, Derek figured out how to read the book! He's writing it down!" I announced. Kira smiled, clapping happily.

"Yay! I knew he could do it!" She said excitedly. She, Lita and Sam headed for the room, James coming behind more slowly.

"Wish that guy would fail, just once... It would be really satisfying..." He mumbled. I headed back inside. Derek glanced up, finished writing. "What's with the nerd glasses?" James asked. Derek glared at him.

"They are an item for reading more quickly. You wouldn't understand, seeing as you don't know how to read." He replied.

"Hey! I can read just..."

"What does it say, Derek?" Sam asked, looking like an annoyed parent.

"Here's what I have: Into heaven's sight, born by the name of darkness and light, decides the fate, for day or for night. A storm will rage and a fire will burn, like the turmoil of the heart. Many souls will mold to one, by which they will never part. If these souls give in to fear, if the light should disappear, then the world will fade away, and will be forever night. If another move is made, if one steps into the light, then everything will change, and it all will fade to white..." He sighed. "That's what I have so far. I would have more, but you all busted in so..."

"Well, you said you'd figured it out!" I defended. He smiled.

"It's alright, Leila I can see you were excited." He said.

"Well, uh, you really need to try figuring that out again, because clearly you've done something wrong." James remarked. "It still doesn't make sense!"

"Just let me doing the figuring out, you couldn't possibly comprehend it with your tiny brain." Derek said.

"Oh really?  Explain it to me then genius." James snapped. Derek was silent. "Ha! Can't do it can you?"

"No use, you still wouldn't understand." He replied.

"You're the one who's not understanding! If you did, you'd be all high and mighty rubbing it in my face." James pointed out. Derek scowled, staring down at the paper as if he was thinking hard.

"I should just decode the rest, then worry about it..." He said quietly.

"It almost sounded like poetry." Sam remarked.

"Great, so the book was written by a bunch of emo kids?" James asked jokingly.

"Yeah guess so." Derek smiled, laughing a little. Then he stopped suddenly, looking horrified he'd just agreed with James, who looked just as disgusted by it.

"You two are such boys. I think poetry is romantic..." Kira said with a sigh. I shook my head.

"What is 'emo'?" I asked in confusion.

"Creeps with black hair that covers their face..." James replied. He gasped. "Like Derek!"

"Not  like Derek!" Derek protested. "Leila, emo's wear make up, skinny jeans, dark clothes, and talk about death, and stuff..."

"That's just a little bit stereotypical, wouldn't you say?" Lita asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Some of them are stalkers too... Like James!" Derek remarked, getting him back. James's eyes flashed.
